YMMV: Walmart B&M Arcade1up street fighter 2 $74

YMMV:
In my Walmart, the Arcade1up street fighter was on clearance for $74. Was in a section where the sign still said $299, but brickseek and scan confirmed $74 price.

yes, I know these aren't the greatest, but for $74 and modding potential, lots of options. And it has the control deck with lots of buttons already.

Don't be sad about that-- It's still a decent price. A lot of us have been waiting for the SF cabinet to go clearance (since it came off of clearance earlier this year). They will go quick at 154-- a lot of people around here already layaway'd them all when they hit that.
How do you layaway them?

You just find one that is still in stock and take it to the layaway department. It's Walmart, so the process itself isn't rocket science. Ideally, the item drops before the layaway period is over, and you are watching and waiting for that and go in and pay/pick up the item when the price is lower.

But if it doesn't go on sale at this particular store before the layaway ends, you're on the hook for a $300 item, right?

Anyone successful with the rebuy strategy?
Yes, I've been successful twice at the same store when I ordered the Centipede and Asteroids cabs for ~$175 online, delivered to a store where they were OOS but listed for $75.

First time it was very easy...before picking up the online order I asked the guy if they would match their in-store clearance price. He said it should be no problem...I just had to accept the web order and then return/rebuy at the service desk about 100 feet away.

When I went to the service desk, they initial said they couldn't match because the $75 clearance price was only for items they had in stock, but the cab I just bought wasn't from their stock and it wouldn't be added to their stock for several days, if ever. However, I was nice about it, acted somewhat surprised and asked if, since they would most likely end up selling it for $75 anyway, if they could just let me return/rebuy it at that price now. After a minute or two, they said they would do it.

Second time was much more difficult. It was a different set of people helping me (clerk and supervisor) and they were pretty firm about it not being how they did things for items that were out of stock in the store. I told them that I had done it before and they hadn't said it was a one-time exception, which is why I had bought them again, expecting to get the $75 price. They might not have given me the lower price, but eventually did, possibly because a guy next to me was being a jerk while I was being very polite.

So the main thing is to be polite and understand that they are under no obligation to give you the lower price. Worst case, you just return it and then try to rebuy a few days later if they put it back "in stock" at the lower price. You might not get it at all, but if you really want one for $75, it might be worth a shot.

Alright hate to sound like a newb, but just gonna be honest.
So there were a few stores nearby me that have it for the $74 price, but none in stock. I ordered one and have it being shipped to store,so when I go in, I should just ask them to:
1. price match themselves
or
2. return and rebuy right away
