Monitor Audio Bronze speakers 25% off

HiDef Lifestyle via Amazon [amazon.com] has most of the Monitor Audio Bronze range of speakers discounted approximately 25%. Most come in either black or walnut:

Bronze 2 Bookshelves (pair) [amazon.com]: $375 (normally $500)
Bronze 5 Tower (ea) [amazon.com]: $311 (normally $415)
Bronze 6 Tower (ea) [amazon.com]: $413 (normally $500)
Bronze Center [amazon.com]: $225 (normally $300)
Bronze W Sub [amazon.com]: $547 (normally $729)

Ships free and there was no tax for me (in Texas). Check out their reviews on RicherSounds [richersounds.com], Crutchfield [crutchfield.com] and WhatHiFi [whathifi.com] (among others).

These don't get much play on SlickDeals and don't seem to be widely known in the US, but I've been in the market for some entry-level audiophile speakers and have had my eye on the Monitor Audio Bronze line for a while. Efficient, well-constructed, crisp but not piercing treble with strong mids and lows as well, and competitively-priced. They tend to get discounted in the Fall (maybe to make way for an annual model refresh), and the price discounts for this year just hit. I already picked up the Bronze Center on sale a while back to see if I liked it before buying the rest, and it's incredible on its own (especially for more sparse singer-songwriter type content which takes better advantage of the voice-optimized sealed center). I just ordered the 5's now that they're on sale (I'll be pairing this with a Monoprice Monolith 10" sub so I don't think I need the low-end performance of the 6's). I highly recommend the walnut finish if it goes with your setup, really beautiful for this class.

I'm home-auditioning a couple of sets of bookshelf speakers right now--the NHT C-3 and RSL CG5 with matching centers. Very tempted to give these a try, but with the Holidays right around not sure I'll have the time. Do you know if the seller offers home trial and free returns if the speakers don't work out?

It looks like some of these items do advertise Free Returns, but not all of them. The black Bronze 2's do, for example, but the walnut ones don't.

Yes, I see that the black bookshelves says free return but not the center even though it has the Prime logo next to it. Odd.

The Black Ash Bronze 2s were in my cart and sold out while I was fretting over the center channel speaker, lol.

No, all of the Bronze speakers require an amp AFAIK (except the sub of course). They're pretty efficient, though, so you don't need a very powerful amp to get good volume. I'm using a Denon AVR-x1500h receiver and they sound great and get plenty loud.

You really should try the SVS Ultra line.

I owned the Bronze 2s and the Bronze 5s. Great sounding, very neutral speakers. These speaker were actually these same prices for a few months last year during this time of year as well. Should remain this price until at least Christmas.

Funny you should say that. I actually had the Ultras on my shortlist for a long time but then, for reasons that now escape me, I dropped them. Why, have you heard them?

Looks like the bookshelves are $400.

Still a good deal though. These are really well regarded.

I have not personally heard them. I currently have an older Paradigm system with a SVS PB2000 sub. I have been looking at updating my system for awhile now and they are on my list of speakers to consider. Every single review I have ever seen and comment on AVS Forum is nothing short of glowing.

Nice to see MA on Slickdeals. High quality stuff, I don't have the bronze but I have the older Silver RX6. Very neutral yet dynamic speakers, I stopped upgrading after getting these floorstanders. But then it could be spending to the next level $3-5K would be nuts.for me laugh out loud

The six reviews I read through Amazon on the 6 Tower, about half of them compared them to B&W's. If these can honestly hold their own against B&W's at this price-point, you've definitely got my attention! Can anyone else comment on this?
