+22 Deal Score
18,085 Views
The new Nest Aware offers:
  • One low subscription price for all Nest products in your home, including cameras, speakers* and displays*.
  • Event-based recording (EBR), which records only when the camera detects activity, to help you focus on the events that matter. You can also upgrade to Nest Aware Plus, which includes 24/7 continuous video recording (CVR).
  • Emergency calling*. Use Nest speakers and displays or the Google Home app to call emergency services for your home.
  • Sound detection*. Nest speakers and Nest Hub can alert you when they detect the sound of a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm.
What's new in Nest Aware?
The new Nest Aware subscription covers all Nest products in your home for one fixed price. If you add a new product to your home, the price stays the same.
You can choose from two simple plans: Nest Aware, with 30 days of event video history, at $6 per month ($60 per year), or Nest Aware Plus, with 60 days of event video history and 10 days of 24/7 video history, at $12 per month ($120 per year). Both plans include access to the Feed, Emergency calling* and Sound detection.

How do I buy a subscription to the new Nest Aware?
You can buy subscriptions to the new Nest Aware from the Google Store starting in early 2020. Nest Aware is available in all countries where Google officially sells cameras and Hello.
If you can't buy a new Nest Aware subscription from the Google Store because you have a Nest account, the Google Store will guide you through the steps to migrate your Nest account to a Google account and complete payment migration to Google Pay.

How much does the new Nest Aware cost?
You pay a fixed price for each home that you've set up in the Nest or Home app. No matter how many Nest products you have in your home, your new Nest Aware price remains the same.
The new Nest Aware is available in two subscription tiers, Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus:
  • Nest Aware gives you 30 days of event-video history.
  • Nest Aware Plus offers 10 days of 24/7 video history plus 60 days of event-video history. All other features are the same.
Nest Aware : $6/month or $60/year
  • 30 days of event video history
  • Camera features, like intelligent alerts
  • Sound detection*
  • Emergency calling*
Nest Aware Plus: $12/month or $120/year
  • 10 days of 24/7 video history
  • 60 days of event-video history
  • Camera features, like intelligent alerts
  • Sound detection
  • Emergency calling

According to their FAQ in the link posted,

Can I keep my current 1st gen Nest Aware subscription?

Yes! You can continue to use and renew your 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions.
But you can't add any new 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions if you've migrated to a Google Account.

Just looked at what I currently have, the cheaper plan gives you 5 days of 24/7, sucks that you will no longer get that. I'm wondering if you can pay for a year or more now to keep the current plan longer?

If you have multiple camera then this is better I guess, since you can have multiple cameras for the same price. You also get 10 days of 24/7 video vs the current 5 days. I just wish they'd offer more plan types to have choices depending on your situation, with these new plans they sort of are leading you into getting more of their products since it's the same price for all of your cameras as it is for just 1 camera.

Glad I can keep my old 5-day plan. If I ever decide to add cameras, I guess it would make more sense to add 2+ more instead of just 1 to get the most value from the new $12 plan. Unfortunately my ISP is data capped at 1TB per month and more cameras would push me over the limit.

Copying from purchasing and pricing section:
If you have an existing 1st gen Nest Aware subscription, you can migrate to the new Nest Aware. Depending on your phone, tablet or computer, you can use the Nest app, the Google Home app, or go to the Google Store.
When you purchase a new Nest Aware subscription, you will receive a prorated refund for the remaining time on your 1st gen Nest Aware subscription.
If you purchased a camera bundle that came with a prepaid 1st gen Nest Aware subscription, we will not offer a prorated refund.
If you purchased your current Nest Aware subscription from one of our partners, contact them to cancel your subscription. For more information, go to our Nest Aware partner FAQ.
Once you have upgraded to a new Nest Aware subscription, you will not be able to revert to 1st gen Nest Aware.

Great, another product that Google has ruined. Such a terrible company.
Ruined how? It's already been established that anyone wanting to keep their old plan can keep their old plan, and now there are 2 additional options for people who want those. What specifically is changing that causes you to say it's been ruined?

A note for those who are not aware, the requirements for the new Nest aware plans require you to migrate your Nest Account to a Google Account (see the requirements section here: https://support.google.com/google...33216&rd=1). This is important if you have an old Nest account and are using the Works with Nest feature, as you will lose those connections when you migrate to a Google Account.

Not too happy about this. I only have a Nest Hello camera (have 8 Protects and two Nest thermostats) and I have been using the 5 day plan. Picked Nest over Ring simply due to 24/7 recording. I don't plan to purchase other Nest cameras.

This really makes me consider Ring. Yes, I can keep my 5 day plan, but for how long....? Also, if I was to add other cameras Ring seems to have more options.

Yea, this is good for me too. I've been very lucky finding some cheap nest cams on Offerup (YMMV but there seems to be a lot near me). I have 8 or 9 cameras and will add even more now that they are finally giving bulk pricing. I was really hoping this post would be to announce you can official sign up? I dont think any of this is new since the event a couple weeks ago. I'm excited to be alerted for when I can actually join.

This is awesome for me. I have 6 cameras and it was starting to get expensive. This will save me quite a bit of money and won't prevent me from buying more cameras around the house in the future.
