+27 Deal Score
26,184 Views
The new Nest Aware offers:
  • One low subscription price for all Nest products in your home, including cameras, speakers* and displays*.
  • Event-based recording (EBR), which records only when the camera detects activity, to help you focus on the events that matter. You can also upgrade to Nest Aware Plus, which includes 24/7 continuous video recording (CVR).
  • Emergency calling*. Use Nest speakers and displays or the Google Home app to call emergency services for your home.
  • Sound detection*. Nest speakers and Nest Hub can alert you when they detect the sound of a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm.
What's new in Nest Aware?
The new Nest Aware subscription covers all Nest products in your home for one fixed price. If you add a new product to your home, the price stays the same.
You can choose from two simple plans: Nest Aware, with 30 days of event video history, at $6 per month ($60 per year), or Nest Aware Plus, with 60 days of event video history and 10 days of 24/7 video history, at $12 per month ($120 per year). Both plans include access to the Feed, Emergency calling* and Sound detection.

How do I buy a subscription to the new Nest Aware?
You can buy subscriptions to the new Nest Aware from the Google Store starting in early 2020. Nest Aware is available in all countries where Google officially sells cameras and Hello.
If you can't buy a new Nest Aware subscription from the Google Store because you have a Nest account, the Google Store will guide you through the steps to migrate your Nest account to a Google account and complete payment migration to Google Pay.

How much does the new Nest Aware cost?
You pay a fixed price for each home that you've set up in the Nest or Home app. No matter how many Nest products you have in your home, your new Nest Aware price remains the same.
The new Nest Aware is available in two subscription tiers, Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus:
  • Nest Aware gives you 30 days of event-video history.
  • Nest Aware Plus offers 10 days of 24/7 video history plus 60 days of event-video history. All other features are the same.
Nest Aware : $6/month or $60/year
  • 30 days of event video history
  • Camera features, like intelligent alerts
  • Sound detection*
  • Emergency calling*
Nest Aware Plus: $12/month or $120/year
  • 10 days of 24/7 video history
  • 60 days of event-video history
  • Camera features, like intelligent alerts
  • Sound detection
  • Emergency calling

This is great for me since I have multiple cameras. You can still keep your old plans too if you want so don't freak out people.

I got 6 cameras in my house and was paying close to $40 a month. This new plan will help a lot.

Yea, this is good for me too. I've been very lucky finding some cheap nest cams on Offerup (YMMV but there seems to be a lot near me). I have 8 or 9 cameras and will add even more now that they are finally giving bulk pricing. I was really hoping this post would be to announce you can official sign up? I dont think any of this is new since the event a couple weeks ago. I'm excited to be alerted for when I can actually join.
I might look into getting more cameras now that it's one price for multiple cameras. Thanks for the reminder to look on OfferUp and similar apps. I have some Arlos because of the wireless feature and locations I wanted to place the cameras but there are some locations that I could do wired...Not too happy with the Arlo video quality though (I have the Arlo Pros) but kept them because of the wireless capability and i wasn't using them for security, more for monitoring.

Guess wyze cam started taking to much market share. $20 cameras with 12sec clips stored for 14d (,with 5 min cool down). Just upgraded from my foscam r2s and love the wyze ecosystem.

What do you usually find them for on OfferUp? Are they new or used that you get on there?

Thanks for the heads up. 24/7 recording is why I went with nest in the first place. Glad to not buy anymore stupidly overpriced cameras

I'e found both new and used. I've found brand new sealed ones for as low as $100 bucks each and I've gotten used ones even cheaper. I recently bought 4 used for $300 bucks and sold 3 of them for $100 bucks each and kept the 4th, basically for free.

If you're hanging out on slickdeals, you're probably like me. Don't be shy to haggle people on offerup, ya never know what people might accept to get rid of stuff. I also got the nest doorbell on offerup for $100.

How do nest camera compare to arlo ultra cams? I have ring cams now but want to switch to arlo ultra unless nest are just as good.

Not too happy about this. I only have a Nest Hello camera (have 8 Protects and two Nest thermostats) and I have been using the 5 day plan. Picked Nest over Ring simply due to 24/7 recording. I don't plan to purchase other Nest cameras.

This really makes me consider Ring. Yes, I can keep my 5 day plan, but for how long....? Also, if I was to add other cameras Ring seems to have more options.
Well if you want 24/7 recording, Ring isn't a viable option.

Exactly. So might as well go with ring. Cheaper and more camera options.

According to their FAQ in the link posted,

Can I keep my current 1st gen Nest Aware subscription?

Yes! You can continue to use and renew your 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions.
But you can't add any new 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions if you've migrated to a Google Account.

.
They really messed people over with migrating to Google accounts. Initially it was like they were suggesting it & now they suggest people not switch.
