This is an older camera. Image quality is good but there's no image stabilization. the replacements all have that feature

No in-body stabilization, but stabilization is built into the lenses.

It's a software hack, not a firmware update. But yes it does bypass the limit. I've never done it myself however.

Stabilization is in the 14-42mm but not the 45-150mm. Plus there are some really brilliant primes that don't have stabilization. I'm thinking of the Pany 20mm 1.7, which is nothing short of amazing and worth getting a M4/3 camera for all by itself.

I mostly use Olympus bodies (cheaper and better colors out of the box) and Panasonic lenses.

There is no clear successor. I think the G85 and then the G95 were intended to replace the G7, but those are a fair bit larger and heavier than the G7. The GX9 is nice and compact, but it doesn't have a nice big grip like the G7 does.

The 45-150mm is stabilized as well.

I don't think that's correct. I think it's this lens, which does have optical image stabilization: https://shop.panasonic.com/camera...150AK.html
