Those are all the right places at all the right times. Does first year double cashback also double the bonus categories?

nice. trying to decide between the discover and chase freedom cc. I believe chase cc offers a $200 bonus at the moment

Based on my experience yes it does. Your double cb is based on total cb earned that year. You get it at the end of your anniversary though.

Target is a nice add. Between Amz and Target, that's 5% on most of my holiday shopping. 👍🏻

The good part of Discover 5% cb is that you can also redeem gift cards at a discount (instead of cb) eg. $50gc for $40 discover cb. Only selected few gc-offers are that high, but if you do only those you are technically getting roughly 6.25% cb-value (25% more of the 5% = 1.25%)

Have a divorced friend who applied and was accepted for both. Discover was within minutes, a higher limit and card in her hands within days. Chase gave a low credit limit, took forever and then sent card with married name...twice.

Yep. All anyone has to do is check the web site or check it when they pay their bill.

I don't have to check it because I get an email notifying me every 3 months reminding me to activate the CB.

Now when the 1ST quarter comes up, someone will post this again and then when the 2ND comes up..........

Discover has become lame now. Amazon & Target store cards give you 5% back year round.

I wish they kept Discover deals. Year round 5% on Walmart and many other places.

I've migrated to other cards that pay better and only use Discover if I'm making a 5% CB purchase.
