Price goes down for about $15 for 1TB version.
Best TLC NVMe SSD you can buy if you really care about that performance margin improvement for the money.

Should I wait for EX950 or SX8200 Pro or just jump on this one?

EX950 and SX8200/Pro have both been a lot cheaper- 1TB for $100-110, 2TB for $230 or even less. Both are comparable to this in a best-case scenario, but crumble if your drive comes close to being full. The 970 Evo is a consistently strong performer across the board, so it depends on your expected workload.

That's not how it works.

the "Crumble" so to speak is if you sequentially write from 0% all the way to 100% IN ONE GO.

If you write 100GB at a time, 10 times with a small break in between, it would free up enough SLC cache to remain at the 2-3GB/s write speed for every 100GB write job.

This is why all reviewers tell people they won't notice a difference in real world usage.

Beside the speed difference of other drives, can we all say this sansumg drive is reliable and won't breakdown than other brands?

While with the drive filled up, the SLC cache will get smaller and smaller therefore will have a impact on performance finally. But most people should be fine and cannot feel the difference.

I've had several Samsung SSDs die over the past several years. My sample size is in the dozens, but I don't find them as rock solid as people think they are. Still, I have the 970 EVO as my primary drive in both my PCs. Just keep your data backed up.

I want to add a 500GB SSD m.2 NVMe drive to my home desktop, which has an available slot. Would this deal be considered overkill?
If I can get a different one in the $50 range, I might go with that as long as it is reliable and has at least a 3-year warranty.
