Not a deal. Refurbished at microcenter for 879.99 (or less, seen it at $850) with same specs for months and months. Wait for black friday at this point.

No spectre deals have been worth picking up to this point. Hopefully the new models and the timing will change that for the holiday sales

So So, I misread the open box vs new price. 1k is a target price point for new.

The one in microcenter is late 2018. This one is early 2019 with Gem cut. 8550U vs 8565U

I guess the gem cut could be conceived as being worth the difference? But the processor change sure isn't. With the thermal issues the spectre line has, the whiskey lake i7s are barely considered an improvement. They can turbo higher than the previous gen but sustained performance can actually be LOWER than the previous gen (and then basically all competing thin n lights)

I absolutely love my Spectre, great build and has amazing speed and battery life for the size

These are great in person. Light and thin, plus that screen is lovely. Not sure about battery life though

I am happy for you. I have had many problems with HP machines, laptops and desktops. After three I'm done.

I was able to go the better part of the day using the Internet, watching some stuff on YouTube, waking it up from sleep mode a number of times and some other miscellaneous tasks. Brightness was about 60‰. All in all, I certainly didn't find battery life underwhelming.

This one also has the Optane drive, the Microcenter model has a regular SSD.

My dad has the spectre with 4k screen, could barely tell the difference in quality between it and my 14" 1080p screen... also the speaker quality is better on my hp 14" that was $170... But of course the performance on the spectre will be better if you actually need that performance (he does not, neither would I, we have desktops for performance)...

Did you have a bad experience with this specific laptop? Have you had any experience with this specific laptop? Cool story
