This is a great tool set with big comfortable to use handles and the ratchets. For $100 this is a killer deal. I use this exactly set at work, and I thought it was a great deal when I found it for $130 last year. I use it professionally on highway related construction.

Free store pickup if you happen to live near Blain's Farm Fleet. If you happen to not be near one like me shipping is available, but not free.

I'm not sure but I think this one is the one that's going on sale at Costco for $80? I'll try to confirm.

They are different, slightly. Not much different though. If this is going on sale for $80 at Costco I'll probably wait and grab another one. I have the one in the original post and it's a fantastic set. I do have a DeWalt problem thanks to SD alerts. I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem!

It's not. I can lay my hands on this particular set right now. I've tried to convince my company to get the Costco ones for the trucks, and I know they're different. This has more to it, and it's not "black chrome". I don't know if Costco always does "black chrome" or not, but I know at least sometimes the sets in the stores are.

The Dewalt tools at Costco now are not the black chrome ones. Probably did away with them because a lot of people didn't like the finish.

This set or the kobalt 227 piece set from Lowe's posted here?

https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/13515226

I want a set that I could use for car maintenance.

I've never used either brand, but knowing the quality of these brands and their reputation, I'd say the Dewalt set is better quality. You get less quantity but better quality. I also say this because of a reviewer in that thread that stated he had that same set for 3+ years and some of the sockets have cracked and split. That's a sign the quality isn't there. If warranty is big for you, I'd check the Kobalt to see if they offer the lifetime hassle free warranty, so even if they do fail you can replace at Lowes.

I have a craftsman set about this size and have never had a socket with an issue, going on 10 years now of semi-frequent use.

I think the Ace hardware one is better. More pieces and seem like not a bad quality.

Where's the link about the $80 Costco set? I bought the craftsman @Ace but will compare to see which one to keep. TIA

Here's a direct link. The Costco set is quite nice. It's also a newer set, you can tell by looking at the driver handle. The old Costco set that was the black-chrome with the older style handle this one has. Of course older, newer, doesn't really matter in tools. Unless you're talking about a 20 year gap, then the old ones may be American made, then we can talk.
