By the time there's widely available content that requires the huge upgrade in bandwidth HDMI 2.1 provides you'll need a new, higher resolution TV anyway so total waste of money to "future proof" a TV. How did we as consumers buy into this marketing ploy that is literally impossible?

Can someone tell me how important HDMI 2.1 is over the next 5 years? Is the B9, C9 worth the couple hundred dollar premium? How much of a difference does it make with the Xbox One X?

I keep buying and returning 4K TV's because they aren't as good as I'm hoping for. I'm at the point that OLED is probably a necessity.

I'll take 55" great picture over 65" mediocre picture. To each their own.
I has the C6 55" curved OLED bought 2-3 years ago $1030 and NEVER had a issue other than I didn't like the remote. If you don't want to waste time and chance on cheap LED's and want a sure bet...got with LG or Sony ($500 more) OLED. My opinion is pay the least as all OLED panels are made by LG and use the saving for soundbar or get the full audio with Atmos AVR + surrounds + SUB (my setup). Tons of cheap deals for used audio gear! OLED deals are the best I've ever seen in the last 5+ years!
BTW, 55" ios the best VALUE. I sit 8 feet away and it feels like a 65"! I DO NOT even need a 65" as it will look slightly worst than 55"...IMO

Not entirely related to the post, but to anyone that's looking for a last year OLED model and don't mind open box, be sure to check bestbuy.com and see if stores around you have them available. Usually the in-store price is even better than the online price, and you could check the actual price by calling the store.

I just got a 65B8 from them. The website listed it at $1080 as "open box satisfactory", but when I called them the guy told me it's only missing a remote and the box. I went to the store to see it in person, and yup the TV even has its screen protector on; the in-store price was $950 with an additional 10% off all open-box TVs, so my total was $930 after tax, an unbelievable price including full warranty.

TLDR: if you don't mind open box, check BestBuy cuz they might have much better deals.

does this have the chroma capability to be a media center monitor? My tv is only hooked up to my media pc and that's really what's been holding me back from upgrading to a 4k tv haha

Oled in general just need to come down in price to compete. Right now the choice is slightly better picture in oled or get a larger tv with I good enough for me picture and save $1000.
They're not competing with low end TVs, they compete with high end LCD TVs.

They are competing for consumers money, and oled has been expensive with little price change for years now. Two non competing things still have to compete for consumers money, when the internet exists and everyone tries to make less impulse buys and does more research.

So true!!! I was one of the first adopters of 4K smart TVs and that was a pain. High end LG 4K tv and there was no content, it wasn't even 4K at 60, and just a shiny new toy that was left behind in about a year.

I still have one in a bedroom but it gets blown away by cheap TVs today. Only upside was that I was able to sell one at almost cost at one point.

Got the E8 for $999 a few months ago when it was FP. Sonos soundbar and 2 rears and I'm all set for $1300. Highly recommend the E8 at this price point.
