HDMI 2.1 will gove you variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode on the Xbox One X. Even more exciting however is the recent addition of nVidia gSync for rtx series graphics cards on the c9 and e9 oleds.

If you're a gamer, and especially if you are thinking about buying a PS5, Xbox Scarlett or GeForce RTX 2000 or upcoming 3000 card then you will definately want the C9 or E9 oled over the C8/E8.

PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch do not support any HDMI 2.1 features or HDR.

Also, if you are using an AV receiver then very few of them support HDMI 2.1 VRR or ALL modes. You will have to directly plug it into your TV and use eARC to the receiver.
Incorrect sir, the PS4 pro and base PS4 have HDR. Please don't spread wrong information here, some people might think it's true.

Got the E8 for $999 a few months ago when it was FP. Sonos soundbar and 2 rears and I'm all set for $1300. Highly recommend the E8 at this price point.
Just curious, did you get the Sonos beam? I'm wondering I should get the sub in addition to the One's and the beam.

Correct. They didnt support HDR from the beginning when the console launched. they added support later on.

The 7.0 update adds HDR10 support across the whole OS (even within the game menus).

PS4 does not support Dolby Vision or HDR10+. Xbox One S and X support Dolby Vision for some streaming services, but not for the Blu-Ray player application.

If you're a gamer buy the C9 or the E9.

That's still wrong. The PS4 Pro had HDR at launch.

That's from the PS4 Pro launch announcement

The PS4 Pro can output 4K and HDR video, which is powered by an upgraded GPU

Yeah the beam and two Play:1's. Had an old Play:1, bought a used one on eBay for $70, and the Beam was cheap on prime day. No sub needed for me, it hits OK. Although I live in an apt. Peace

I had the playbar and 2 play1 for rears. Getting the sub was night and day! I highly recommend getting the play sub if you can get a good deal on it around BF.

Honestly, if you are a gamer, you may want to consider avoiding OLED. My LG OLED had burn in from Rocket League on PS4 like 13 months into ownership (first TV that I wish I had actually bought the extended warranty...). I am thinking this is due to HDR elements that are static on screen (have boost gauge remnants on bottom right of screen, *BALL CAM* in the lower left part of my screen, and an outline of the scoreboard in the top middle of my screen). I believe this is a 2017 model (would have to check to be sure), but I am hesitant on getting another because of this. The TV looks incredible, but this should definitely be something to consider. It only shows up on when there are light shades on screen, but it is still extremely annoying.

So, do the 55E9's even exist? Seems like LG is producing very few of them, haven't seen a slick deal on one yet.

1. How many hours a day did you play Rocket League?

2. For 13 months?

3. Did you watch any other content for hours in between Rocket League sessions?

I probably have 300 hours on that account stretching back to my old TV, had the game ever since it came out on PS4. I played a lot of different games for the most part, but there was a week or two when I would play RL for an hour or so every day or every other day. Nothing insane, and nothing remotely close to a marathon session. I never left the game paused, and there was always TV watching in between the gaming sessions.

Thanks that's very helpful. It seems like you had normal playing sessions and still experienced burn in. How bad is the burn in? Can you see it only during certain situations or all the time?
