I think the bigger SSD is better than the pen but I havent used a surface with a pen yet. I have a pen for an ipad (crayon) and ... never use it so I'm skeptical that the pen is all that useful.

I always say this on Surface products but it bears repeating: Don't buy this if you want to draw or do digital art, always go for the iPad family of products for art. The n-trig tech is too finicky to accomplish fine detail and precision. Surface is great for productivity, office and school work but abysmal for most artists.

It's not a good deal tbh the Costco one is better and gives you an extra year of warranty plus the pen.

The i5 in the pro 7 is as good as the i7 in the pro 6
Last year Microcenter had the pro 6 for $699 without the pen. That's a better deal if you ask me. The pen is not useful which is probably why they stopped including it.

Just a heads up since OP left out details. You will pay taxes. I don't know much about the surface pro 6 models so i can't comment on that aspect. However, those taxes are high and I believe new customers get an extra $20 off.
I'm not sure if you are aware, but you're supposed to pay taxes!

$818 after tax, still tempted.

I'd rather have the extra storage than a pen, I can always get the pen later.

The only other upside to the Costco deal is probably the return policy...

This is better than the Costco Black Friday deal because of the battery life and extra storage.

128GB is too little for productivity these days, especially with Win 10 taking more and more storage space.

which doesn't mean much because the i5-8250u is just about as powerful as the i7-8550u unless you're doing stuff that benefits from hyper threading (which I really doubt you will with this kind of device)
The way I see it is you save $50 and get 128gb more storage + 1 hour more battery life at the expense of usb-c and a type cover. I think that's worth it for some.
It's silly how people mention the Costco deal in every SP6 thread, not realizing the SP6 is hardly even an upgrade to the SP7.

256GB vs 128GB, and includes the $130 keyboard cover. Price is good.
Pro 7 will include the type cover.

Sooo.... you save $50 but

You get a less powerful CPU
USB-C
Type cover
1 year less warranty
90 day no questions return policy
And whatever silent bug fixes

Gain 128gb, and 1 hour of run time...

Yea I will pay $50 more or more than likely go for the i7 deal that doubles the memory and storage.

During Black Friday Costco will have the newest Surface Pro 7 combo with Type cover & surface pen for $799.99 plus 2 years warranty. Which has 10th Gen Intel i5 Processor with 128GB SSD compare to this one with 8th Gen Intel i5 Processor with 256GB SSD and doesn't have surface pen & 1-year warranty.
Also if you are buying with Costco citi card that warranty is total 4 years. I would go for that
