I have been watching this kit for a few weeks. After all the tool kit deals popped up yesterday; suddenly this one is $99! My decision is now infinitely harder.

I have to agree with FunWithDeals...I work on my own cars and NONE of my sockets I use on a regular basis are 12 point. The 12-points would just waste space for me. Working on cars it's not worth the risk, especially when you're dealing with softer bolts at times and don't want to worry about the type of metal, and other bolts that can easily range from $2 - $10 each and you don't want to risk ruining because you can't just run down to HD or Lowes and grab a replacement.

This is significantly more complete then the other tool sets that were posted yesterday (in terms of sockets). The other tool sets are obviously better if you don't have screwdrivers, ratchets, extensions, etc. But if you have those items or purchase them separately you can build a much more quality tool kit. I find the tool sets that come in the plastic cases are usually worse quality and the cases themselves are terrible.

Looks like a nice deal. I have couple sets with 1/4 and 3/8 but need a 1/2 set with sockets. Might put a trigger on this set and buy 1/2 driver separately since I have $10 off $100 coupon. Too bad it's on store only (the coupon I mean)

It all depends on what one needs.

If you need an all-in-one tool kit that stores neatly in a compact portable case, then get one of those general use "mechanics" sets.

If you're outfitting a bigger tool box in your garage, then a socket set like this is a great start. Thumbs up from me.

Tempting, coming up $89 for me but I just need the 1/2 inch sockets and only the deep ones are 6 point in this set.

Edit: All 1/2 inch are 12 point, thanks for correcting me may0.

All the 1/2" sockets are 12pt. I got this set when it was this price for father's day and it is a very complete set. and for 1/2" 12pt is all you need IMO. This set has 6 pt 1/4 and 3/8 shallow/deep, and 12pt 1/4 and 3/8 shallow plus 1/2" deep and shallow 12pt.

Limit 5 per customer. So that is a whopping 1000 crappy 12-point sockets. Good Luck!!
Not all of the sockets are 12 point. You get 6 point and 12 point for 1/4" & 3/8.

For some reason Husky moved away from 6 point 1/2" sockets a few years back. This would be a solid deal with the Lifetime Warranty if not for that. I left my 12 point Husky's in the case it came with and ended up buying a Gearwrench 1/2" socket set off Amazon. I figure for the times I'd use a 1/2" socket, I wouldn't want to slip on a bolt, and 12 point is only good for light duty.

This is a strange situation for this socket set.

This same socket set went on clearance for $25.03 about a month ago. Then, any store stock left over suddently became unclearanced and back to $199. And, all the stores received 5 additional socket sets to sell eventually, but not now. Maybe for Black Friday?

Check BrickSeek : https://brickseek.com/home-depot-...=207186810

It will show stores having inventory of at least 5 socket sets, but none are avaiable for sale at this time.
