Why is the 5030 so expensive? The 5040 has been about $1,150 as a refurb from Epson.

I appreciate your post! I look for Slickdeals on projectors daily. However, these are the same prices that the Epson clearance site has had for at least the last four months. Personally, I think they are high priced for refurbed units. I have read that at times Epson will offer a new spare bulb as a rebate and when that happens I think they get closer to fairly priced. The factory new 3100 for $699 is a recent price drop of $500 which sure sounds like a great discount. I would also like to mention that Best Buy also has the 3700, factory new for $400 off which makes it $899.

Yeah def wait for BF.
I have owned an Epson Refurbished PLHC 2030 For about 4 years now, I think, and have had absolutely ZERO issues. Just last week I got the change the bulb notification. The bulb is $130 so I'm weighing replacing it vs waiting for BF deals and upgrading to 4K.

My last hope for a Black Friday projector deal was the Dell Black Friday ad. Now that it's out and also Best Buy with no projector deals I have lost hope. Maybe Cyber Monday will have something.

Refurb doesn't even save you any money. And for these it probably will cost more in the end.

I agree. Don't buy refurbished Epson products. I had a bad experience, I received a defective product and also had fingerprints inside the lenses. I exchanged couple of times but every replacement has some or other defect. It's not worth.

If I can find that Optoma HD27 for $359 refurbed again I might pull the trigger although it is a gamble.

Best example of when refurb are bad is iPads. A new pro 64gb was $500 last year and refurb was like 50-79 less. Silly.

It's almost as if you took my comment from 5 weeks ago and pointed to a sale now.

I don't want that garbage anyway. I got a way better model a long time ago. Otherwise I would have seen the alert obviously.

But thanks for proving my point that refurb is a rip-off.
