I've decided to chime in to help the confusion between whether or not this an IPS Panel or not. (FYI - I own this TV and it is VA and it is the only reason I purchased the 50" version).

Yes - It is true that if you go to LG's website @ https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-50UM...-4k-uhd-tv then it will state in the description 'IPS 4K Display'... BUT the only reason it lists this is for the various other size options. IF you click on any of the actual sizes, then scroll down a little and click on specs, you will be brought to the section that shows the Display Type = IPS 4K Display... The ONLY size that is an exception is the 50" version... which lo and behold states = 4K LCD Display

Not only did I confirm this with rtings.com and the LG Website before purchasing the TV, I also compared the physical boxes at Costco. It clearly states 4K IPS Display on all other sizes but omits that labeling on the 50" version....

All this points to the fact that YOU, my friend, are the ultimate idiot and an A-Hole spewing misinformation and criticizing fellow Deal Seekers. Please be kinder to people so Karma doesn't come and kick you in the crotch one day... Have a pleasant and Blessed Day =]

Oh and the TV is pretty Awesome. Love the Magic Remote. But kind of wish I had built-in Roku... =/

It's been $299 for several weeks at Costco and comes with a 4 year warranty when purchased with Costco Citi card. Great TV for the price...It comes with a VA panel with good contrast and the speed is much better than expected.

Negative. This is not an IPS panel. The 49" is IPS but not the 50" version.

If its IPS the contrast is pretty much the worst you can get with a TV. LG switches it up between sizes so it's not clear which this is though usually the smaller sizes are all IPS

Perhaps you should let LG know then. Or just Google it first next time so you don't look like an idiot. https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-50UM...-4k-uhd-tv
