Can you add these to the existing first generation Arlo wireless cameras.

How future proof are these Pro 2 when Pro 3 are already out. I want to by a system that I can use for the next 5-10 years.

Wyze is supposedly working on an outdoor camera system.

Ok Slickdealers you have convinced me this is a good deal Smilie. We have been in the market for outdoor cameras and have been waiting for Black Friday. Amex $30 credit definitely helped sweeten the deal (at least covered the tax) lol 😂 and I Swagbucked in top of that and got 2% back

Hi GoldenJoe,

No I'm actually not wrong from a technical perspective. Search on digital forensics.

The Pro2 actually has a considerable advantage over Pro3 - you get rolling 7 days of cloud storage free indefinitely. Pro3 and Ultra require subscriptions.

I just picked up the 4 camera set and plan on returning the 2 camera+doorbell. One thing I noticed is the base station is different. I can't tell all the differences, but lacking a speaker cut out and an additional USB port were the things I noticed. Are they different from a performance standpoint or is it just a feature difference? I wonder why they would put 2 different base stations in?

From what I gather it is a cost savings for Arlo. They removed some components such as one less usb port, weaker siren, and from what I read the new base station model:VMB4500 vs the old model:VMB4000 the new one will not support the 2k Arlo Pro 3 in the 2k format, it will only stream up to 1080p vs the old one has the capability to stream in 2k.

Thanks, that is super disappointing that they downgraded the base station. I don't know if it really matters since I'll be getting an Arlo Ultra at some point.

Hi GoldenJoe

You're free to show how you would do it so that "superimposing a timestamp in a video is just as easy as" changing the file name.

Seriously, state your case.

Pretty sure you can use the metadata to identify date of creation. Superimposing a timestamp in a video is just as easy to forge as the filename.
In terms of judges - well, it should be clear to any astute follower of the news of wrongly convicted people in the USA that once proven innocent are still remaining incarcerated that the US justice system has some serious issues. Looking at some of the patent cases also clearly shows that we have a number of judges in the US who are not technically minded.

Anyone actually used these and the original Arlo system for comparison?
I have the original ones for about 5 years. They are nice but I hate the delay in both recording start time and time to start/load the stream, and from the way it sounds, these 2 things have not really been significantly improved for this model?
