This thing looks huge! For a fitness tracker and casual runner, this is overkill, right?
Yes this is multisport and tons of features and details overkill than a casual runner needs. This is more geared to marathon runners, triathlons, ultras, etc.

This is a fantastic watch, I'm wearing one now and I'd recommend it to anyone. EDIT: I mixed up the models myself. This is a screaming deal, buy it while you can.

My GF and I were out in the back roads of Utah last year. This actually had the trail maps listed on it and helped us through some spots where it was tough to decide which way to go at the fork in the road.

This is a great deal. People really need to stop comparing this watch to an Apple Watch. They're targeting completely different people. If you want great phone integration, make calls, listen to music, check twitter or whatever, and have "some" fitness features, then Apple is totally your thing. If you want great battery life, GPS tracking with mapping and navigation, connectivity to all fitness devices(Ant+ is huge if you're if you want to connect to the best heart rate monitors + power meters), and a ridiculous amount of data(i mean a ridiculous amount) then this is your watch.

I have the 5 plus, which has music. It technically works, but unless i'm running I don't bother with it as it's slow and clunky to download. If I'm cycling, I carry my phone anyway for safety and it's easier to play music through that.

One caveat I will saw for the 5X, these watches are HUGE. I have big wrists and that one still scared me away, the non-X is slightly smaller, but still takes some getting used to.

I would be careful ordering it from Amazon. Based on the reviews a fair amount of people are getting the SE Asian version vs the US based one. Cant use apps from the us store etc
I bought the fenix 5s sapphire version a few months back for my wife. Was the SEA version, apps worked fine not sure which store it actually was, but Garmin wouldn't validate the warranty. Sent it back for a full refund even after the normal return period. I didn't notice it was the SEA version until I was thinking of getting one and looked into it more. Its pretty easy to check the box will have SEA language on the box.

it is big. yes its overkill for that, you might look into vivoactive series. I am guessing some of the VA 3 lines will be close to $100 soon.

I bought the fenix 5s for my wife but after the SEA version issue sent it back and she settled on the vivoactive 3 based on price and functions she actually wanted. The Fenix line is like the top end model of fitness trackers, super overkill for casual monitoring.

This is an absolutely outstanding deal. Anyone have any idea how long this is going on for? I'd like to sell my current Garmin before pulling the trigger on this one.
Depending on what you have, they sell pretty quick. I'm considering a simultaneous buy and sell...

Also, I have a Fenix 3 HR Sapphire. Wondering what I could sell that for locally to just get what my upgrade cost would be in the end...
Personally, I'd list at $225 and expect it to sell. I'm considering it now...

My only thought is I live in KS City where Garmin is headquartered, so a lot of discounted stuff floating around....

Just got one thanks. The problem with the apple watch is you have to get an iPhone as well to make it function and I'm an android guy. Scoring big time lately got the Dewalt drill kit from Lowes the other day as well they canceled the order but honored it in the store. Thanks Slickdeals!!

Do you by any chance know if the tax on this will count for the $300? If I remember correctly the added tax will trigger the bonus offer, but it may not; maybe I should just get a small item along with it to be sure...
For anyone interested I called AMEX and they said that as long as the charge meets the offer amount (via tax or not) it will trigger the bonus credit. So this watch will get a $30 bonus if you have the offer available on your AMEX.

amazon had it same deal, just snagged one this morning. Used discovery 0.001 points for 20% additional discount, final cost was $282 and slow shipping will give me $1 in digital credit. Hell of snag! Woot Jump
How??! What's discovery 0.001 point? :o can't find it.
