Its not about $$ off normal price, its about what the best price has been at ANY retailer recently. As someone else pointed out it was $999 this month in another deal.

I felt that way until I bought a LG OLED 65" in 2017. I should've bought a Samsung QLED for the amount I paid. My LG OLED is nice, but doesn't fit my needs and viewing preferences. I watch TV mostly during daylight hours in a room full of windows, or I have multiple room lights on at night. That's the worst setting for an OLED. There's so much glare and the TV is not bright enough to compete with the light in the room. Get OLED if your room is constantly dark/dim.

Wrong oled is the dinosaurs tech. Will be completely supplanted within 3 years by a host of led/lcd tvs that are 5 times brighter, no burn in worries, and last for decades without panel degradation.

You just need to change the settings on the TV. You probably have it in "theater" mode which is tuned for low light.

If you watch a lot of news or captioned/logo channels (burn in concern) or in a high light room same issues as plasma. Same pros and cons pretty much.

You are going to pay top dollar to mitigate side viewing issues with non OLED technology.

Also where are you getting a OLED 65 new for a "G"... Basically comparing a 55 OLED price at this 65" screen size...

Distance from TV will be the reality check when it comes to viewer experience.

Optimal 4k viewing distance

55 -- 5.5-7.5'
65 -- 6.5-8.9'
75 -- 7.5-10.2'
85 -- 8.5-11.6'

Of course if you are watching highly compressed UHD on Netflix you really aren't getting the benefits of native 4k UHD quality anyway...

It is the motto "Those that want to best better be ready to pony up as an 82" highend Samsung 4K TV is going to set you back about $3800 after tax and 77" OLEDs aren't cheap either... Otherwise move those chairs up closer if you want the bennies

Nobody on here is looking for "FAIR" we are looking for Slick, Smoking, Fall off the back of the truck pricing. That is unless your TV just died and you are jammed up...

Otherwise we want a lexus TV on a Kia budget....

Not true. This is a high end LCD TV. Both technologies have strong points, just different ones. It becomes very subjective. But don't dismiss this as "dinosaur tech", because it isn't.
