The HD 4.5R is the special edition of the exact same HD 4.5BTNC. The R in the model number, stands for Red. Both are exactly the same, both are on sale, but the R is discounted heavily. Many sites have compared this to the Bose and Sony and these headphones have come out ahead. Do your own DD.

I have an older Sennheiser headphone, and the sound is fantastic.

I have these headphones. The clamp force is extremely strong and it will hurt your ears after 5 mins. Sound quality is 6/10, noise cancelling is also 6/10. I bought the Anker Soundcore Life ANC headphones ($50) and in my opinion those are on par or better in sound quality, and much much better in terms of comfort.

How does the Sony - WH-CH700N Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones compare for about $10 more?

This review [techgearlab.com] says sound and comfort are way below the class leaders. But if you don't have $250+ to spend on headphones, this might be a good alternative.

BTW, is there a difference between the HD 4.50, the 4.50 BTNC and the 4.50SE?

Thank you. My old Sennheiser Urbanites have been fantastic so I'm sold on the brand. They were $80 and have lasted for ages with use of about 6-7 hours per day. Now the ear cups are wearing out and it costs about $35 to have them replaced so I'm giving these a shot. Worst case scenario I can compare the sound and return these if they don't hold up to my old Urbanites.

This review [cnet.com] was pretty positive and compared them favorably with the Bose QC 35II and the Sony WH-1000X. Unfortunately Sony is up to the WH-1000XM3 which is supposed to be significantly better. Also, comfort appears to be an issue judging by this review and the one I posted earlier.

I've had the BTNC version of these for over a year and I love them. Can't really compare them to other options but I don't really feel the need to.

any recommendations for wireless over-ear for both gaming (good mic) and music (good sound) without having to step up to $200 Bose/Sony range (dont really need that level of ANC)?
