The model for this phone is XT1921-2. The clearest, most concise spec listing I can find is at the Republic Wireless site: https://help.republicwireless.com...Tech-Specs

This phone should be bootloader unlockable and rootable, per XDA:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...m-t3820901
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...d-t3856182

LTE bands supported: 1,2,3,4,5,8,12,14,17,30,66

Clearly, it works fully with AT&T, Cricket, and other AT&T MVNOs. As long as you do not power on the phone with included SIM, it should activate just fine on any AT&T MVNO.

This lacks band 13 - which is Verizon's 4G LTE backbone - so it almost certainly will not work with Verizon or Verizon MVNOs.

This lacks bands 25, 26, and 41, so it almost certainly will not work with Sprint.

It does have main TMO LTE bands (2,4,12), so it should technically work with TMO or a TMO MVNO, but activation outside of AT&T or an AT&T MVNO will almost certainly require 6 months of AT&T service before it can be unlocked for that purpose. Still, if you have TMO and pick up this phone, please try and let us all know!

Same price in stores.

Thank you! Will the Google voice number be different from the red pocket phone number?
Yes, they are different. Red Pocket will give you a new number or you can port in your number.

Google Voice number is from your Google account. Just logon to your google account, and get a free number at http://voice.google.com/

You're right, I looked it up also--almost exactly the same device as my e4. Worth the $30 for me anyway for a device with a fresh battery versus my aged one. Probably get the wife something newer and nicer for Xmas.
Moto E5Pplay AT&T $30 doesn'tMad have finger print reader.
My older Moto E4 Verizon $40 has finger printer reader.

According to Bestbuy web site, only SimpleMobile Moto E5 Play $100EEK! has finger print reader.

While MotoE4 and E5Play rear camera is 8MP, Moto E4 takes better photo quality compared to E5 Play photo.

Low storage even after uninstalling ATT bloatware and not able to root like the OP said. Sorry but this not as slick as I thought, this is going back to BB.
Expand storage up to 128GB by adding a microSD card

yes, separate number...but you can set your phone's built-in dialer app to use your Google number. This will make your dialer app's caller ID appear as your Google Voice number to recipients, but use cell minutes. In other words, your phone's number will be set to the Google Voice number.

Otherwise, it will be like having two lines on one phone. The phone dialer app will use cell minutes and the Red Pocket (ATT) number, and Google Voice app dialer will use Google number and cell/WiFi data.

https://support.google.com/voice/...roid&hl=en

hard to explain, but try it out with your current phone, and you'll see

You can also move your existing cell number to Google Voice for $20, and use the above method instead of porting your number from your current carrier to Red Pocket

I.e. just get a new cell number from Red Pocket but use your Google voice number that you moved. This is handy if you switch carriers a lot and don;t want to keep porting between carriers, and just bring your Google Voice number. Not sure if it works on iPhones though.

Let us know what the restocking fee situation ends up being, please? The Best Buy website [bestbuy.com] says there's a $45 restocking fee on cell phones, but also says "Cell phones (exclude prepaid phones), cellular tablets and cellular wearables". So does that mean there's no restocking fee on this phone?

EDIT: chat with CSR confirmed there is no restocking fee on prepaid phones.

I'll second this. 16GB is pretty small, but should be more than enough for the OS and apps, with a microSD card for everything else. I mean, you can get a 128GB card for $15 on sale (certainly with upcoming BF), and 64GB for $10 all day long. At least the phone comes with a microSD slot.

I think you'll be fine playing PoGo on this phone. I just bought one for the same exact reason but I'm going to hotspot it so I can play outdoors
Lmk how raiding is with this phone. 2gb ram might be laggy. I have 2gb ram Samsung and there's always a 3-5 delay in starting lobby

Yes, it will work on Tracfone/AT&T, either by swapping a currently activated SIM, or by using a BYOD SIM.
So this phone will work with the $39.99 annual Tracfone Sim deal on Ebay as long as I select AT&T compatible as the carrier?

Not sure but it did work with Freeup sim by just swapping from a cheap ZTE phone but I made sure NOT to power it on first.

Looks like it can't be unlocked easily. It may have to return mine. Asked a couple of sellers on eBay and they could not.
