I bought the "scuffed box" version of this TV from BuyDig based on a thread a few weeks ago for $1,269.00 (I bought having no idea what that even meant but the TV looks brand new, the box just had a few scuffs on it). Frys also recently had this TV at B&M stores for $1149 and I believe Costco had a deal on this TV that was somewhere in these forums as well. Price seems to be dropping and sub $1300 should become standard price soon.

BuyDig Scuffed Box thread - $1269 (out of stock)

Frys B&M thread YMMV - $1149

I really do need and the wife doesn't want to go over 1100. I can convince her on this one since the 7 series is listed for 1099. For 200 more this is a no brainer. Only shopping best buy at the moment as we have a bunch of unused gift cards.

Nice man. Good luck. I got a 2013 6 series Samsung 75. It was $2000 on Amazon on good deal. Still works but had two vertical lines down side, that show up 30 min after tv turns on.

The 6 series (un6900) is currently $750 (black Friday door buster prices) which is a pretty good deal in my opinion but as I look at the next model up I just want more of the bells and whistles that I can get in my price range lol. The wife just doesn't understand lol

For same price you can get TCL 6 series which has full array dimming and overall superior picture quality.

I've been back and forth for a few weeks now on getting either a 65" set (like the Sony 900f) with full array dimming and just more bells and whistles or getting a 75" set that's not quite as robust spec-wise, but the same price as the 65 set. Not willing to spend the $1800-2000+ for the 75" with those better specs, although I'd like a 75".

The room it's in is fairly bright through the day, although most of the TV watching there happens in the evening to night. But during football season with 1pm kickoffs its very bright in there and I just don't know if the ru8000 has enough brightness or reflection handling (although anything would be better than a plasma for that) over the 900f.

Just curious, what would any of you do?

Yeah that is what I was thinking as well. Debating on the 75in TLC 6 Series or Samsung Qled. I do not know what to do.

I keep leaning towards a little more for the QLED series but even then I go down a rabbit hole of well the Q70R is so much better than the q60, but if I look at Q70R the Q80R is so much better than that.
Now I'm looking at 2200 instead of 1200 and running out of explanations for the extra 1k

Samsung has nothing in that price range that comes even close in quality. With TLC it's a bit of a panel lottery though.

I would buy the 75" TLC 617 or Vizio P Series Quantum, whichever is on better sale on BF.
