Good lenses, very light weight, but cheap frame quality. After 2 years, the paint started peeling off the hinges. The lifetime warranty is misleading. It would cost me $20 in shipping fees each way, only for them to tell me that paint peeling off the frame is not a defect and therefore, to re-paint the frames would cost $80. The warranty only covers manufacturing defects. I'd rather buy a nice pair of RayBans or Maui Jims.

I used to work for Costa. They are phenomenal in terms of quality. Outstanding lenses. When I was there the styles they had were a bit off. They're way better now. Their Amber lens is awesome. Great for driving. Good find op.

If I only use it while driving, would it last longer?

Did you use it all the time?

I use my Costa exclusively for fishing. Costa generally has been good with warranty. The shipping up and back is true, but at 12 each way. 24 sounds a lot better than 40.

The rubber stops and nose pads fall off after a while. The paint does peel off with excessive sweat/sunlight/saltwater.

Even with these gripes i wouldn't fish without them, the protection for my eyes is invaluable.

I'm surprised the alleged ex employee hasn't identified these issues, and wrong on the shipping prices. Also did not mention, nor did Nordstrom's, these listings do not identify the base color of these lenses. There is a base color and a lense color. This may be important to someone. Also there are two models of lenses , the 480 and the 580. This listing does not specify which. The 580 series lense is superior to the 480, thusly more expensive. Reading the reviews , it seems like consumers are identifying these as old stock due to discoloration and frame peeling which makes me assume these are 480s.

Do your research before your purchase. Also know these are commonly sold as high as $250 / pair.

I'm looking for good fishing glasses (Florida inshore). I've heard good things about Costas. Any recommendations? Model? Amber vs gray lens?

Posted as you were posting... So the 580s are the ones to get? Are they glass?

I was literally going to make a quick video on sunglasses for fishing last night and never got to it.

I'm new to freshwater fishing, 3-4 years now. I've bought a lot of cheap polarized glasses in that time thinking Costas can't be that different.

I'm getting to the point where I want quality gear to give me every advantage. I got Costas, and it has been much better. 580G is the way to go. Amber/green for freshwater and blue for salt is what they recommend.

My eyes feel less strained at the end of the day, I can see more in the water, and I don't get scratches on my lenses (glass).

They must have changed the warranty terms. Two years ago one pair of mine had a crack in a lens, cost me only 12.95 total for s&h, and within two weeks my glasses came back looking brand new.
Personally Costas are the best glasses I've ever owned. Lightweight but great quality.
