Check your Safeway Just for U account (App or website) for a digital coupon of $10 off $100+ Mastercard gift card purchase. It is not in the gift card section, but in the weekly ad section. Search for "mastercard". These types of coupons are usually applicable for variable card up to $500. Cost of the card is $5.95, so you profit $4.05

These gift cards purchases are normally used to maximize credit card bonus categories for points or to meet minimum spend (don't do this for amex min spend).

Valid 11/10 - 11/23

Normally Safeway J4U deals are also available at Vons, Randall's, Albertsons, Acme, and possible more.

Thanks, quick way to make $4 on my normal grocery trip. Even easier (spending wise) considering the annual homeowners and auto insurance bills are around the corner!

Interesting. I don't have it. Maybe it's cos I used the master card coupon 3 weeks ago and the visa one last week?

Thanks. Tried but no effect.
I'll try again tomorrow! I have to liquidate the $500 visa I got last week anyway. Venmo doesn't seem to be working anymore 😢

Don't use Amex for this deal for minimum spend. For normal spending, that's fine. For minimum spend for bonuses, best to avoid any gift cards.

Yeah, venmo blocked Meta VGC for a while and now Mastercards are blocked as well. Can no longer liquidate via those methods. Last dated transaction that went through was back in September.

You can check under the Purchased tab as well. That's where I found mine.

It won't count towards your min spend, or if it counted - it will get clawed back. Don't mess with GCs with Amex until after you've RECEIVED your sign up bonus. Few years back I met min spend organically (before the statement closed) and felt safe to then get some GCs. When my statement closed, Amex still flagged me and tried to deny my bonus. Said I was using GCs to meet minimum spend which wasn't true. In the third statement, I completed minimum spend already and then had a few GC purchases afterwards. Fought for 4 additional months after that statement close to finally get my points.

BofA, Chase, Barclay, Synchrony, Citi are all fine.

After you get your signup bonus, you can go buck wild. I get tons of these $10 off $100+ every year and cap my 4x category by September.

Interesting, i had no issue buying GCs to meet AMEX minimum spend 2 years ago. Things have changed since then.

signed up 2 amex cards (1 cash back and 1 reward points) and helped my DS20 with his spending by buying visa gift cards at staples 2 months ago. He got his bonus and I received mine referral bonuses.
but after reading this... quickly went and redeemed points for $150 in gift cards. these reward points are really worthless.
With Chase bonus signup especially the Chase sapphire/reserve...they can flag and put hold on the card. Happened to him but not my other DS26 which I also help his spending of 3K in visa at Vons last week. No flag and no fraud alert. Could be he has a higher credit limit on his card.
