This is a good system. I had abode, decided to switch to this so I can use their flood cameras as well. $100/yr for professional monitoring is pretty good deal. Abode was $2xx, their response time was terrible. I tested ring and their response time is pretty good.

Given the prices of the door / motion sensors, I'd advise waiting til one of the bigger sets with more motion/door alarms is on sale. I got mine (2 motion sensors + 3 contact sensors) about a year ago for ~$180.

I'm sure they'll be much better deals coming soon with black friday approaching.

Good system though. I've never once had a false alarm, nor any sensor disconnects or any other issues.

These protocols cost a fortune.

Wish they'd do this same stuff on 433MHz so it was 10% the price.

I agree with you

I remember prime day and another day had the 14 piece set for $200. I would bet amazon will have the 14 piece for $200 or lower and the 10 pc for maybe around $160 on black friday weekend

Definitely worth waiting

It's a good deal for the professional monitoring at $100 per year which also includes unlimited cameras/doorbells and adds better warranty coverage on all devices. Only knock on Ring is their system pretty closed off when trying to interface with SmartThings for automation purposes, works with Alexa though.

Yes it works. Do you need it if you've already got other ring products? That's up to you. If you feel you need or would just like another layer of protection then yes the security system is definitely worth getting. I agree with previous posters about waiting for sales on larger systems though, as the cost per piece will be less.

I have a large ring environment (one video doorbell 2, five floodlight cams, four chime pros, one regular chime, one indoor cam, 14 piece security system with one added keypad, two added motion sensors and eight smoke and CO alarms, one ring bridge, one ring transformer for landscape lights, three motion sensors for the landscape lights and two solar yard signs) so I'm obviously biased and a big proponent of their products.

My experience hasn't been perfect but considering how far the app and software have come and the excellent customer service I've always received over the last year and a half that I've been building the system, I'm beyond pleased. The only issues I've had worth mentioning are once I had a door sensor stop working. I removed it from the system, added it back and it's worked fine ever since. I've also had issues with one motion sensor tripping the alarm when nobody was home and there was no reason for it to trip. That happened a few times and I turned down the sensitivity to the lowest setting (people only I believe) and it hasn't falsely tripped since. I added the indoor cam to try to see what was causing the false trips and the indoor cam also had false trips. I believe that it's because they're both installed in the foyer and it faces south with a window in the front door and on partly cloudy days when the sun is shining brightly one moment and being completely blocked the next it confuses both devices.

I really can't recommend ring or their products enough. At their price points and considering the quality of their products, level of customer service, and the savings you'll realize vs any other companies monitoring, it's a no brainer for me. I can talk ring all day so anyone reading this with questions please feel free to ask.

Integration with other sensors is very limited at present. I'd recommend either checking the website or just calling and asking them. It seems they are always adding capabilities and upgrading software so it wouldn't surprise if, at some point in the future, they do work with other companies sensors to try to grab more of the market. That is, unless it would cause them some kind of potential legal issues.

Looking forward to them releasing the retrofit kit so I can use my existing wired sensors.

Me too. I do have the Ring Alarm, and while it does work well Ring development is very far behind traditional wire/wirelss alarm systems. I have to say, their sensor lineup is pretty much a joke. JMO.

Is there an issue with the sensors? I'm debating getting this for my business.

No, no issue with the sensors. The only issue I have, is there is not enough of a variety, like glass break, shock, etc. It's probably the reason they decided to come out with a retrofit kit, to interface with more robust wired/wiress alarms. In the long run, it's probably much less expensive for them to do this, rather than develop z-wave sensors that truely interface with the Ring system. Some of their existing add-on 3rd party sensors, like the garage door one, won't actually trigger the alarm at the monitoring station. It just sends a notification to you. I am eagerly waiting to see what the retrofit system does. If it's even worth it, and how it ties in to central monitoring at Ring.

Using the Ring in the commercial/retail environment may work fine for you. Give it a try, it's only $139 plus the $100 a year for professional monitoring. That's a bargain.
