I saw that . . . but Best Buy is an easy return with no shipping inconvenience for anyone that doesn't care for shipping and delivery issues.
Most major credit cards also extend a warranty beyond the factory one also.
BJ's is a really good deal if you are a member and can pick the TV up for $449.98.

I'm thinking this Samsung RU8000 has been over priced and now the price has dropped even directly from Samsung.
It' is becoming a great pre Black Friday deal. Some retail places sold it for $999 when it first was introduced not long ago.

A pretty good deal now for this TV. Rtings has good ratings for it .

Been watching this TV, contemplating whether or not to buy a renewed/refurbished for a similar price. Holiday Return policy is in full effect at Best Buy, decided to pull the trigger.

This TV at $549 is the deal of the season IMHO. Forget the Black Friday $279 "specials" which are low end TVs most will dislike after owning a few weeks or months. There are cheaper Smart TVs, but none right now that are better at this price point. It rivals TVs in the $800 to $1,100 price range.
In my opinion, and many reviewers, This Samsung model is the best value combination of price, features, and picture quality. It has a great LCD panel, very bright picture with excellent color.
Right now, anything better in other brands would be $200 to $300 more to match it.

I wanted to go up one size over my current 50" 4 year old Vizio, but the picture quality on mine is so good and I really like and am used to the remote control operation I hesitate to change.
I was considering the newer TCL 55" but the latest models also suffer form banding issues on the screen like the 2019 models according to rtings reviews.

I'm looking at the 65" model and its currently on sale for $800 most places. But then there is also the 7100 for $600. Looking at the rtings reviews side by side, they say the 8000 is better but they seem fairly close to me, is the jump from 120 to 240 etc. really worth the extra $200?

I love watching tv but I'm not expert. thanks.

I'd say if you plan on making the jump to the next generation of console gaming get this, if not then save $200. If it wasn't for VRR/Freesync and 120hz specificly for gaming I would get something cheaper and a bit smaller.

My brother has a 2 year old Samsung I think it's a 7100 and it looks really good to me. I'm sure if you put it side by side with a new RU8000 you could see the subtle improvement to color and everything else, but in real life you don't watch TV like that.

But really either way you can't go wrong with those 2 models IMHO.

I appreciate the response. We watch a lot of tv shows, movies and sports are the big things for us. I do play some xbox and ps4 but not too often and I'd figure at some point ill make the jump but it wouldn't be for a while as I use the xbox more for youtube tv then gaming. That being said, gaming on 7100 would still be a passable experience for someone who might play some mlb the show or the occasional fps?

As far as the size we've got 40" and thought about 55" but we agreed if we can swing it, we'd rather have the bigger tv if its at all close.

Would be nice to put the size in the description or main heading. Looking at the model.. it seems like a 55.

I don't think you can. Even BJ's black friday ad lists it for $529: https://www.theblackfriday.com/bj...tml?page=4

FYI.
The 75in ru8k is $1k at Fry's..if you have one around you.
Picked up the 82in for $1.6k the other day. It's one of their trusted name brand ads.
