What makes this better than the average $50 16GB deals lately? Like this:

Disclaimer: asking b/c I'm still on DDR3 machines and haven't followed DDR4 until recently since Win7 is going EOL soon.

CAS 14. I'm running the same ones at 3400mhz with XMP timings.

It runs at 1:1 ratio for ryzen 2 infinity fabric. Low latency 3200-3600 is the best ram for those cpus for that reason, and has an appreciable impact on performance. Samsung B-die (which this is) is especially sought after by people chasing high performance.

Honest question: will I even notice the difference if I am not rendering video or running multiple programs simultaneously?

Depends on the game, cpu intensive probably a decent little boost

Tighter timings help tame jerkiness during gameplay on Ryzen. FPS will be slighty higher but the smoothness and consistency are what these deliver.

Thanks guys. Don't play games and don't overclock so will stick to the $50 deal if I need 16GB of ram for the normal computing stuff with our next desktop replacement.

I think the normal price is over $150. There's a promotion lowering the price and a small coupon on top.

The last 4 months, it seems it hovered in 120-130 range, mostly 120, so this is a $20 discount for anyone curious.
