Wool socks are good for any temperature. Only thick wool socks get too hot. I have some of these that are sort of medium-weight, and I'd say they don't really get any hotter than my cotton socks do. I get hot easily and prefer no socks when I can, so if they were uncomfortable, I'd notice.

I'm also super picky about how socks feel, and these feel really nice. No thick seams around the toe, don't slip down (at least the quarter crew), snug but not tight. I can't swear to the durability yet, but so far they still feel like new after a good handful of washes and wears. I plan to get more year-round socks from them, maybe eventually replacing all my semi-disposable cotton socks.

Merino wool is very good at temperature regulation. I wear the Hiker Micro Crew year round and our summers get into the 80s.

You might try an ultra light wool. Really nice for sweat wicking and they dry incredibly fast. Maybe a pair like this:

Code doesn't seem to apply to DT.

Unfortunately the promo does not apply on DT socks. "Darn Tough does not qualify for any other promotions at this time." Frown

I live in FL, so I'd only use these a few times through the year. What's a good all-around pair of socks to keep feet warm in temps not dropping below 40 degrees?

Just bought 2 pair. Hope they are as good as people say. $35 for 2 pair of socks is a bit pricey.

I bought a pair of the full cushion wool boot socks last year and wasn't impressed. Besides the fact they are made in the USA, I'm not sure why people love them so much.

Are they better than the costco merino wool socks? Looks like costco is ~70% merino wool and a 6 pack, but the darn tough socks are only ~50% and singles.
