Thanks OP! Traveling to visit my granddaughter in Austin this weekend for her birthday and this will be delivered Thursday. Her mom's gonna kill me, but Papa's gonna be a rock star! LOL

Got it last year, same deal. Sat in garage for a few months until I finally opened it in May. Everything was fine, so far holding up well, has been dismantled and moved around several times for lawn repair.
The assembly however ... took me 8 hours by myself and I am very proficient DIYer.
Highly recommend to get the socket drive bits for both impact drill and hand ratchet (there's 3 sizes needed), and carefully layout and organizeall the pieces ahead of time. And don't let your toddler try to help because it'll just distract you and take up more time!!

Had mine outside in NC for 4 years now. Thing has held up remarkably well for the price. My neighbor has one of the sets you can get from Lowe's or Home Depot and it's probably 15 years old, but that was around $1500 at the time. His high school senior still swings on it all the time. I wouldn't have swung on this set even when it was new, but it wasn't for me.

My 4 and 7 year old still play on it, however they are starting to outgrow it.

I bought one of these a couple years ago and slide came in broken. It took 10+ calls to get it resolved. Just a FYI if you have any issues.

Does this thing have to be mounted to the ground? I just installed artificial grass, I preferred to not put nail in the grass if not needed.

Not needed but would be ideal to make sure it doesn't move (when kids are jumping and climbing all over it).
I just put mine on top of my lawn and didn't use the included spikes to anchor it down this way I could still move it to mow around
