I think the lead is from the turmeric lead. Just recently there was a large report that tested many types of turmeric from India and all of it was contaminated with lead. They use the lead to make the colors brighter. They got caught. It's in every turmeric containing product sourced from India pretty much. Google will give more info if you search turmeric lead India

So, while I agree on finding recipes on utube, my main gripe is getting the individual ingredients. I'm not Indian but I love Indian food. I bought ingredients once to make this from scratch, and it was 2-3x the amount of I just bought a packet of this. Not to mention, I rarely used the masalas after, so waste of money.

I wonder what ingredients contain lead? Maybe any ingredient Can be tainted, since India is so polluted? : "Q: Why doesn't this ship to California ?A: Prop 65. They paid a fine."....."No longer ships to CA due to lead exposure risk...By B Leary on October 19, 2018 I've bought this 23 times from Amazon, but could not have this delivered to my home in California. I contacted Amazon and they informed me of the following:
This is a restriction issued by your California state law authorities. They are banning many products on their various index lists where not only this item but also, any products that can be exposed to chemicals including Lead which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm are no longer available to ship there.
Wow! That's quite the disclaimer. Thank you Prop 65. One email to Kitchens of India was answered to tell me that they're working on the problem. I loved this curry, 5-stars for the ease of cooking and taste, but it's definitely off the table now. Eat at your own risk. "

if someone reads that, I'd be interested in what quantities of lead are in such foods... If you add to the heavy metals in your chocolates, seaweed Products etc, it could really add up especially for the little ones.... ...so you mean Indians also use this kind of product? It's an Indian brand? Don't know how much we can trust some foreign brands. Seems like everyone has a love hate relationship with America, don't think they want to give us the best stuff, especially at low prices. Think of all the fake olive oil, organics...... Anyways how can it be called "butter chicken" if there's actually no butter in it? Sunflower oil doesn't taste like butter.

you add butter to the mix.

Yes Indians use ITC although they have special export mixes. India & US have an excellent relationship for the most part. Google that..

Italy also probably has a great relationship with our government, but a big percentage of"Olive oils" are just fake. Some have developped almost an art to taking soybean oil and making it smell and look like olive oil. Reading about that makes me wonder what other imports are bad...
