Hmm, haven't cracked open the base game yet. Worth it to grab the Royal Edition for $12 and sell the base copy for whatever I can get?

I keep hearing it's great, but I'm like 20 hours in and it's just mediocre so far. Pretty, but tedious.

Waiting for it to get to $10. Reviews are pretty mixed.

Bought this on Xbox on day one and again on PC and could never get past 15-20hrs worth of gameplay before it just became boring. I wanted to love this game but there's just something about it that didn't grab me like how FF6, 7 and 9 did. Maybe I'm just an old fart at 36 now...

I really don't want to learn how to fish in a game about fighting monsters.

I'm twenty years older than that. Personally I really like ones like this and the XIII series, despite much unlike from some fans. Yes, I also enjoy some of the older series with old-style gameplay and crude graphics that make me feel like it's 1999, and nothing wrong with that.

But I appreciate when they take the series and writing to different places, and of course new technology. You need to invest time in these (they do make a fast-run-through mobile version for impatient Gen-Xers). On the other hand I do like sitting by campfires cooking stew and shooting the breeze so I'll just be happy here by my campfire with my weird friends who are on a trip with me in a big convertible....

Actually I do hope to play the old FF7 again to prepare for the upcoming completely different FF7.

No, the game just isn't very good compared to the older ones. The people who all say it is great are the same people who either didn't like the older games or never played them and don't understand why long-time fans of the series were upset with it.

Plus they never even finished the game because of the poor sales (By which I mean the planned storyline which was supposed to stretch across additional DLC which mostly got cancelled). Not to be confused with the bug that broke everyone's game near launch where you actually couldn't finish the game haha.
