She has a phone and iPad but insists she needs a regular computer as well for the 6 times a year you actually need one. Lol
I totally get that. Sometimes you just need the clickity-clackity of a keyboard! 😂

What do most of her friends and family use?
What ChromeBook printer will she use?
Check the EXPIRE for updates on the ChromeBook model.
I use windows 10. Most of my time is using the CHROME browser. Browsing, and downloads.
I have a ChromeBook also. Getting used to the ChromeBook "double click" and "right click" on the trackpad can be "sensitive"
Good luck with Mom !!Peace
She had a Desktop PC before. Has a ton of songs downloaded on it and that's the main reason she wants a laptop...to have something smaller she can play her downloaded files on. I don't even know if you can do that on a Chromebook. I don't know anything about them other than that's what my kids use for school.

I need to get some sort of laptop for my Mom that would use it for shopping, browsing online and listening to music. Am I better off getting her a Chromebook or something like this? I have a $250 budget if anyone has any suggestions. I don't know a lot about Chromebooks but am not sure she needs all the other features.
There was a Lenovo windows laptop deal for $129 couple of weeks ago that would be perfect for what you described. Not sure if the deal is still there or not. If not, it might come back for BF.

You can wait or get this. IMO, ain't no way in the world you can go wrong w/ this--- good processor, 1080 screen, backlit keyboard, SSD & fingerprint reader. Couldn't ask for more at this price (I'm hoping for 8 GB RAM at maybe 30 bucks more). Repped, OP.

I purchased that laptop and its going back. Cpu maxes out just loading a webpage in chrome.

A chromebook would be a good choice. You can absolutely play your music files on them, only limiting factor would be storage space. Most chromebooks average 32-64 gigs of storage.

Unless she needs to install a windows applicarion I would definitely lean towards a chromebook.

Don't listen to addiboy. Anyone with half a brain would tell you to get a Chromebook for your mom's needs. Why would you want to get a computer that's going to be buggy and have viruses, when you can get a Chromebook that boots up in seconds, can run and play Android apps, and will never slow down or get buggy and have awesome battery life?!?!

After I added the laptop in cart, the Staples site gave me this msg:
"Promotion not applied: Eligible items and minimum order total are not met. You have $0.00 of eligible items in your cart. Please add $80.00 of eligible products to your cart to receive the discount."

The coupon code didn't work on my order.
