Never experienced an issue like this using the phrase "Alexa, stop"
Never tried saying "off" before though.
Seriously, I try to turn on the exact same radio station at the same time every day Monday through Saturday, nothing on Sunday, same routine for a year but Alexa often has no clue.
"Off" usually is mistaken for "office" as a song a store or a location.
If it is "I can't find" as a song, it goes to a radio station. If it is as a store, it is not near my town. If it is office as a location, it suggests I go into the system and set up the location office.

The longer I have my Echo the worse her hearing has gotten. Lately I have been saying Alexa, turn of living room lights. She responds I can not find a device called living rooms. I will slow down and deliberately say Room and she replies Rooms. You can even ask for an exact song and title then she plays it. Then one day she can't find it but if you say a line from the song she will. Plus I will ask to turn off kitchen lights and the lights go off and she says kitchen lights are not responding check network connection.

Good deal. They also have a deal for students too. $0.99/month. Maybe after this trial ends, students can sign up for that. I believe that is an ongoing price too, not just a trial.

If only "alexa die" zip it, or kayate would shut her up sometimes.
The echo could really utilize a shut up mute button, not just a button to mute the mic.
Still waiting on Japanese music licensing to die.
I'd really like to listen to some anime, Final Fantasy music, as well as other games & anime that originate from Japan.
That said, I was surprised that the entire soundtrack to Shin Godzilla was there.
