Thanks for the post, I've been trying to find some of these on sale for a while now. Chances are I won't even try it but it's nice to have.

Always good to have peace of mind. I have a few of these in the closet along side 10 gallons of water (I rotate the water out twice a year and drink what I have in storage). If there's ever a natural disaster, disruption of food supplies from terrorism, at least I'm sure I'll have food and water.

Thanks, I have some of these types of buckets already, they are high quality and easy to move, stack, and store. Happy to add 2 more for variety. Sometimes they arrive with the lids snapped open, which ruins the oxygen absorber. Definitely demand a replacement in those cases if you plan to store long term. I haven't ordered any from Amazon, but Walmart and Overstock both were good about replacing opened ones.

10 gallons is enough for 2 people for about 5 days, including sanitation needs. I also have one of those things you can put in the bathtub and fill, which would provide roughly another 80 gallons of water, if I anticipate it will take longer than 5 days.

Since some of my sanitation needs would be covered by those shower substitute wet wipe towels, and since we have a pool in the back yard and a lake up the road, along with lots of fire wood, a fireplace, and other methods of fire starting/water boiling, getting water for hygiene wouldn't be a huge issue regardless.
