I just got the Ryzen 7 E495 delivered today for about that same price from B&H. It's a pretty good machine. I like the build quality and was able to throw in a second 8 GB ram stick in I had laying around. Not a crazy amount of bloat on it, seems plenty fast. I picked up mine to have a Linux laptop and did a dual boot with Fedora and it all works really well.

Great laptop from what I've seen in the last few hours. I feel like it's a good price.

I have an older t450s with the i7 dual core 5600u - get 14-15 hours on the big battery. Hows the battery life of the E495?

Not nearly as good. I'm not sure quite as I spent yesterday doing a ton of updates and installs. It doesn't have the ability to do the big battery like yours as it's all built inside. With the USB c charging I can hook it up to my large PD charger, and I've got a good charger at my desk and home. How's that t450 holding up? This is my first Thinkpad, but so far it's a great machine.

Ah. If you get at least 7 hours solid that would be enough for me. I got mine in April and it's snappy with Ubuntu and an SSD upgrade. The main reason I got it was the screen is good 100% rgb though only like 250nit brightness and yeah the hot swappable batteries/long life, paid $320 for mine. I actually use a t530 I bought for $100 a couple months ago more than it though because it has a discrete graphics card and also a 100% rgb TN screen - it benches slightly faster than the t450s also since I upgraded the RAM and put in an Evo 960. The 15" screen is nicer if youre doing productivity work though the t450s is much more portable/lighter - the t530 only gets 6-7 hours max with a new battery so I leave it plugged in all the time and actually rarely use the t450s long battery life. Both can play CSGO and other older games at low settings. The Intel thinkpads just have battery life over the AMD thinkpads - a lot of the thinkpad community is liking the new AMD thinkpads because of the performance. Once you get the thinkpad bug you'll be getting another one soon so be careful haha.

Thank you. I found the Lenovo page from the product id thing 20NE0001US from the Amazon page

https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/T...20NE0001US

the PDF link has more specs but no definitive answer on weight:

https://slickdeals.net/f/13558924-14-lenovo-thinkpad-e495-ryzen7-3700u-8gb-memory-256gb-ssd-563-99

Starting at 3.87 lb / 1.75 kg

Looks like it checks all the right boxes.

Norris3 confirmed Fedora works on this machine quite well and you can add another 8GB RAM on to it.

It has a two by two wifi which is another box checked Intel 9260 11ac, 2x2 + BT5.0

The announce date of 2019-04-30 means it is a new machine

the keyboard is NOT backlit and there is no fingerprint sensor which is sad but it is ok if I'm planning to use it with Linux.

IPS FHD is another box checked 14" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 250nits Anti-glare

Integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 Graphics should be good enough for Gnome 3 (XD)

Like other people mentioned, the battery is not too big only Integrated 45Wh but tbh a machine that weighs 5lb+ like this will probably stay in one place...

anything i missed or got wrong?

Would this been good for an entry level gaming machine? Nothing too intensive for now, Diablo, Sims, Minecraft mostly.

Yes definitely the APU can handle at low texture settings or low resolution

Plays basically anything at 720p low setting with extra ram.

Yeah, not a gaming laptop, but try gaming on any other non dedicated gpu and your miles behind.

The massive space between the bottom of the screen and the bottom half of the laptop is fugly as hell.

Costco. Lower price, 2 year warranty, more memory, bigger SSD, and the weight is listed Smilie. Only negative that I see is Win 10 Home instead of Pro.
