AT&T or Verizon Apple iPhone XR 64GB - Upgrade Only (Monthly Installments) $449

I've been looking for a deal on the iPhone XR for a while and this one is pretty good given that there is no trade-in required. It does require that you pay monthly, but I imagine you can pay it off through your provider just like any other monthly plan.

AT&T
$14.97 for 30 months 0% APR installment agreement, qualifying credit and qualifying service plan. Some installment terms require a down payment. Tax due at time of sale.
$30 Activation Fee

Verizon
$18.71 for 24 months, 0% APR, $0 down for qualified customers. Tax due at sale. Wireless service(voice and data) required and is additional.
$30 Activation Fee

At the time of posting it looks like both carriers have all colors in the 64GB model and Verizon does have the 128GB model in stock as well for $20.97/mo ($503.28).

I wasn't able to walk through the AT&T purchase process, but there was additional fine print for Verizon here:
*Verizon service costs and applicable taxes, fees and surcharges are not included and will be payable to Verizon. Upgrade fee of $30 applies for upgrades. If your line has a legacy unlimited data feature and you continue with your upgrade, you will lose unlimited data and will be put on a 2 GB plan for $30/month plus all applicable upgrade fee, line access fee and all other fees, charges and taxes. If your line has any other plan, your plan will not be changed with this transaction. For additional details or to change your plan, please visit the My Verizon app or My Verizon at www.myverizon.com or call 1-800-922-0204.

If you're going to commit yourself to a lengthy stay on AT&T, the loyalty (2 year contract) deals are a better way to go, all around. You get a cheaper phone (the last price I saw for the XR was $149) and you only have 24 months instead of 30.

Trying to think if this or the black friday deal (https://slickdeals.net/f/13559944-walmart-black-friday-iphone-11-11-pro-11-pro-max-450-gift-card-from-700) will be better from Walmart for Verizon for XR or XS. I'm thinking Black Friday, but don't know how much the phone's prices will jump then. Any ideas?

Crazy that you have to pay 30 dollars for the privilege of paying 500 dollars to buy a phone.

I am thinking the same thing. Are there reasons to jump on this as opposed to waiting until the 27th for the walmart black friday deal?

The retail price for XR at Costco is 549. So you're only saving $100 at most and lock yourself for 24 months.

It looks like the XR is going to be $600-$700, so I think black Friday is the way I'm going!

Xr will have a $400 GC for upgrades and can be done online.

Question is will they keep the $450 price or go back to MSRP at $600. At least with Verizon, you can pay it off right away but WM contract may make you keep it active for 6 months.

Walmart final price isn't known yet, it will be a $400 walmart gift card, but we don't know what the starting price will be. Probably $550 or $600. If the starting price is $600, then you'll pay $600 plus tax etc, and then get a $400 card back which makes the final price around $200 + tax.

This deal is XR for $450. No gift cards to deal with, no hassle, but overall you're paying $250 more for the same phone. The WM deal seems much better.

You're certain walnart bf deal can be done online? Usually their cell phone deals are in store only.

Online will be for upgrades only and no trade in. In store, you can do new lines and trade in.

Mom has had a blackberry for the last 8 years. Grabbing an iphone for her for Christmas. On Verizon, extremely unlikely to switch. Any chance there will be a better deal than this for a non-trade, non-activation transaction?

Deal expired. Price on the Verizon upgrade went up to $27.04 per month for 24 months. Making this a $50 markup over MSRP.

BF deal will be good but not great. as it would be $250 after GC
