so how does attaching a trolling motor work?
Intex sells the mount for it, easy to add. YouTube this boat and you'll see several people modifying this.

What kind of trolling motor and how hard is it to mount? I'm interested in getting a cheap fishing boat for the bay.
55lbs thrust with a 100amp battery. Intex sells the mount for this.

Awesome! I just noticed that Amazon shows a trolling motor and mount for $200 total as "frequently bought together". How much was your motor and mount?

Shouldn't this be called a "dinghy" to highlight that it's just a small inflatable rubber boat?

After using mine for 3 years, I got too close to a rusty anchor chain and it sprung a leak.. 3 chambers means it didn't sink and I managed to keep it fully inflated with a battery powered pump. A $5 patch kit fixed the leak.

Lesson learned. Stay away from anchor chains.

So I did quite a bit of research between this boat and the Mariner 4. For my application, fishing, I found that the Mariner 4 worked better. The 5 person rating is pretty tricky as i find it's like a tent. After you get gear in there just take that number it's rated for and slice it in half.. The truth is that once you get fishing gear a trolling motor battery and full size adults you are looking at not having much room. Most people modify their boats and add a wooden floor which does add a ton of stability but also adds more weight. The Excursion also has 3 chambers while a Mariner 4 has 4 chambers. For me in my research I came to the conclusion that the Mariner 4 was a bit more sturdy than the excursion. Both boats do require a trolling motor mount that is purchased separately if you want to go that route.

It's a dinghy. The word "boat" implies so much more..
