Is this better than the lowes kobalt table saw that's going on sale black friday? Would be used for home projects, nothing commercial. Or is it comparing apples to oranges? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-1...w/50056619

Never seen the delta up close but I have looked at the kobalt and the fence is horrible I'd gamble on the extra 50 for the delta.

If I were buying a portable table saw right now, I'd be jumping all over that Ridgid (the NEW model) for $299. Having said that, I own the Kobolt and I think it has a better stand than this particular Delta. I believe otherwise the Kobolt and Delta saws themselves are nearly identical.

This company has been around a long time and have been making table saws since they were invented. They have been a sponsor of This Old House. I am sure if you ask your dad he would say they had them in high school shop class. Normally they were big and heavy and were made to put in one spot and not moved. Companies like Makita came out with lightweight transportable table saws and everyone followed. This isn't a budget tool like Kobalt.

This rigid also has a 30 in rip. Has a lifetime service warranty vs 5 year warranty for the delta. Has a 3.1 hp motor vs 1 ho for the delta. Other than that I don't see any major differences.

Yes you are right. But only the new Ridgid model (R4514) has 30in right rip capacity. The older Ridgid model (R4513) is 25in.

For what it's worth, I have this one and absolutely love it. Used it for years, heavy homeowner (not commercial) use for several projects. Always works well, my father is quite jealous and was very skeptical of it compared to his large, fixed commercial table saw. But it turned out great, I would recommend.

Times have changed. They don't make these any more. I called them for a replacement part, Delta told me since the table saw was being redisgined, their manufacturer wasn't making parts so I've been farked for a year now. I'm pretty sure they are a pure brand company now.

Craftman has been around a long time and had quite the reputation. Doesn't mean it isn't just cheap Chinese junk these days.

Everything I have read says that the Ridgid has a much better fence. The newer model has a 30 inch rip capability. Also, lifetime service warranty.

Of course, a Dewalt is going to be hard to beat.

But, when I was looking for a new table saw, I had a budget that I needed to stay in, and it was well before Black Friday so I couldn't wait for November deals.

The Ridgid was my first choice as the Dewalt would never be in my price range. But, the Ridgid never dropped to around $300 when I was in need of a table saw, so I ended up getting the Kobolt on a deal and I am pretty happy with it. The fence is not all that great because you have to constantly measure both ends of the fence to get a straight cut. I see basically the same fence on this Delta.
