Hmm what about the cheaper models? 211 and 411?

Had been trying to decide between Blueair and IQAir. This seems like a good deal.

I know this is a deal thread, but I'm in the market for a good air purifier for a large room and wanted some quick advice between these and Coway Airmega 400 (or 400S w/wifi). Price point wise they are in the same neighborhood these days +/- about $50.00 (on Amazon)
Your advice would be appreciated.

I think this is one of the highly rated ones on CR, but I'm not sure. I think this is the "Professional" category purifier, if I'm remembering Blueair's website correctly.

We were in the market for purifiers a few weeks ago and we settled on two Coway Mighty units for our smaller rooms and a Coway AirMega 400 for our kitchen/living room because it covers more area.

The Mighty has been an excellent unit but I'm still on the fence about the AirMega. We leave it on the smart mode, just like the Auto mode on the Mighty, but I rarely hear it spool up. I have been manually turning it up to level 2 or 3 to just to at least get it to run. I doubt our air in our kitchen area is that clean. When the Mighty was in the same place as the 400, it would occasionally spool up for a few minutes every so often but either this 400 is so good that it it does a fine job in smart mode of keeping the air clean, or something is defective.

I was making bacon and sausage earlier today and the 400 was on Smart mode and the air indicator light did change from blue to purple (some pollution detected) but that was the first time I ever saw it do so.

I may return it and get a few more Mighty units instead in the event the 400 ends up being overkill for us. We did get cash back on the $350 spent on it, about $25 back, and Comed gives us another $50 in rebates for Energy Star approved appliances but if it's still overkill or defective for our uses, it's not worth the ~$280 we paid and we'd be better off with the $80 Mighty.

I own the 211+ and really like it. For folks looking for a purifier, that's what I'd recommend. Easy to run, reasonably quiet, simple tap/button for controls and the filters don't cost a fortune. It also looks nice too aesthetically. I may be wrong, but I think it has better CADR numbers than the 480i does.

411 may be okay for a small bedroom, but I wouldn't use it for a larger space. I don't own that one though so can't comment directly on it.

Checking consumer reports, I see it lists the 605 #1 and 211+ as #2. But the 605 is supposedly noisier and more expensive to run. Wirecutter lists their pick as the Coway, but also great is the 211+. There is a pretty big disparity between CR and Wirecutter on the Coway, CR has it as a middle of the pack purifier, ranked about 20th.

Anyway, the 211+ is the best purifier I have owned (also owned Rabbit Airs, Honeywell (sounds like a jet) and Austin Air).

There is a very useful review on comparing air purifiers at the bottom of the Amazon page.

Something to add, if you want something quiet, buy a larger one and just keep it at the low setting.
