So true. If I add up my cost of internet and these services, I am paying pretty much for a cable bundle.

The only benefit is account sharing with the family and friends. But still it's ridiculous.

No kidding. And you know what will happen? People will flock back to cable, and then the cable providers will increase the rates as well and then everyone will flock back to streaming. Granted, it's the big studios that are increasing their prices which get passed to us, like Viacom, AT&T, and Disney.

Thankfully, if you don't care about live shows, you're not affected as much.

I wonder if they will ever crack down on sharing. If they ever do, the masses will flock to cable again.

YouTube TV is $49.99, and I don't have experience with it but am looking into them now, since it seems to be one price for unlimited DVR. Sadly, probably only a matter of time before they increase their price $5+ since Hulu took the lead on that.

Hulu has been $44.99 but it didn't include what they call 'enhanced DVR' for an extra $10/mo, which you'll probably want to get, increases storage from 50 to 200 hours, plus the ability to skip commercials of recorded content. I'd almost call it a hidden DVR fee since YouTube seems to have none of that.

At the new $55 price plus $10 for the enhanced DVR, $65 is a tough sell. Mad

The masses are starting to flock back to piracy. Plex is doing good business lately.

I just don't think cable will be going anywhere anytime soon. If you have competing cables in your area such as me, fios and spectrum, I just jump back and forth promo to promo. Internet and cable together on promo prices is still cheaper than one of these packages plus the cost of standalone broadband.

And it's especially complicated if you follow a local sports team. Here in LA, it's my Lakers. Need to factor in the cost of NBA league pass, or do some ghetto work around like illegal streaming sites. So at the end of the day, you just stick with your cable company.
