Costco has the new 16" MacBook Pros in stock with an expected ship date the week of 11/18. IMO, Costco is the best deal when it comes to MacBooks because it comes with a 2 year warranty be default and you have an option to buy Squaretrade for it for a total of 3 years, which is cheaper than AppleCare+ and covers the same things ($100 vs $349). Using a Citi card also extends the warranty so if you combine with Squaretrade, you're covered for a total of 5 years.

wonder why all the thumps down?

plus the 2% back on executive members and 2% back on citi costco card

seems like a winner just lack of configuration

Yeah I don't know either. Maybe because there's an active Adorama deal for $100 less and no tax, but what you save there, you end up paying for AppleCare+.

People here also really hate Macs.

Does Squaretrade really offer all the same coverage/warranty as Apple Care?

no it does not. Do some reading if you think this is a 1 for 1 replacement.

Despite what Op said, I didn't think so.

If you look at what it covers, it says "Your computer is covered for drops, spills, and life's accidents, plus mechanical and electrical failures from normal use."

That seems like everything that AppleCare+ covers, software support aside (which I personally don't need). Is there anything else that I'm missing in terms of coverage?

I meant to quote you in my reply above. Is there anything that I'm missing for what AppleCare+ covers, but Squaretrade does not?

That new machine is tempting - I don't really need my Retina iMac any longer and I use a 13" 2015 MBP.....that new one would serve me as both desktop and laptop. If I get back into something (video editing) that I needed a big screen for, I could just dock the thing because it's certainly has enough power.

Normally I wouldn't spend more than 1K or so on a laptop...but that's because I've always had desktops also (at least for the last 20+ years).
