It's a pressure cooker dude. Of course it gets hot enough to safely cook meat.

Have had this exact pot for about 8-9 months now. Works pretty well. Being a large 8 qt pot, it takes some time (10-20 minutes depending on how much it is trying to heat) to come to pressure, however. So would recommend getting a 6 qt or smaller if you don't cook large quantities of food. The pressure and temperature are not manually adjustable, the time however is. Also, there is a convenient delay timer (upto 24 hours, I believe) and keeps the food warm after being cooked until you turn it off. It's a good deal - Worth it!

Teflon off-gases around 450F+ if memory serves, the chemicals that it off-gases are toxic and can kill birds and are not exactly safe for humans either, there's no knowing what chronic long term exposure to them would cause. Luckily I doubt very much that any slow cooker or pressure cooker hits those temps as meats and other things would burn in the cooker if they did. These devices cook at much lower temps, just getting to around boiling at 200-210F, so not exactly a risk there, and any food inside them will absorb the heat, keeping the teflon coated metal and other things from having a chance to overheat even if it is directly exposed to the heating element. There should be no safety concerns about teflon in this sort of device, though teflon does come with some risks in certain applications. Also teflon which isn't off-gasing, but which is scraped off a pot or pan or whatnot, is not really a health or safety issue, it's inert and would pass right though you without issue from what I've read, the only downside is the pot would lose its nonstick ability there.

My wife and I have the 6qt version. We bought it as it was cheap and didn't know if we would actually want to invest the $100 or so in an Instant Pot brand. We love ours and don't plan to buy the IP one. Had almost a year using 2-3 times a week and it's held up nicely.

I have a similar offbrand one and having had an instant pot before I haven't noticed much of a difference. It's slightly cheaper made I guess

I got this when it was $50. Went online to chat with Best Buy and got a price adjustment. At the $50 price, I thought that was a slick deal. I was wrong! This is a great price and after unpacking and using cooker, it definitely seems like a high quality product. How have I lived without one!

I doubt it, I skimmed for other deals and no one else was beating these prices. Tbh I thought the Insignia ones were supposed to be $29.99 and $49.99 for BF which is why I got a 6qt one, but the 8qt one being $39.99 was too good of a deal and I wanted one just a bit bigger, so thinking this is a good decision, and the 6qt one can just be a return. I doubt you'll see the price drop any lower.

I'm really conflicted. I know I want an 8qt cooker. I don't mind spending a little more for higher end brands, I'm just not sure if say an instant pot is going to be much better.

I have this. Don't waste your money trying to upgrade. It's awesome. And the price always makes me smile!
