Research the new G9 update, its like a new camera now and for cheaper price? Damn this is hot!

EDIT: Let me answer a few questions from the thread.
why bother with a smaller m43 sensor when there are larger APS-C and FF?
1. Portability, yes the body is a bit bigger but the lenses are waaaay compact. especially telephoto lenses, with the 2x crop factor the lenses are smaller and lighter. FF even though the bodies are smaller the lenses are still have to be bigger to cover that large sensor. APS-C is a better balanced system but the lenses are still noticably bigger and I cant name one APS-C camera that has good IBIS.
2. IBIS, the image stabilization on the G9 is insanely good. 6.5 stops of IS thats why you can shoot video handheld (close to a gimball smooth), or shoot telephoto handheld (400mm+ and its still shrap? woah), or shoot longer shutter handheld (around 1.5 seconds long) and still produces sharp and usable images. Yes APS-C and FF have better dynamic range, more pixel but if you cannot produce a sharp or usable image then its useless.

m43 is not for everybody. before investing in a camera body make sure you are fully invested in the camera system, find what camera works for you, not everyone uses their camera the same. practice practice practice. its not always the gear that produces good pictures, its the photographer.

I own a Panasonic (GX85) and Sony (a7riii).

Stabilization in the Panasonic cameras work far better than the Sony. I think it's due to the smaller sensor having more space to move around. Image sensor quality doesn't matter if the images are blurry from shaky handholding. With the Panasonic I don't have to think about it at all since the stabilization works so well. With the Sony I always have to be conscious about proper handholding technique to keep the camera from shaking.

Also despite having the "better" sensor, Sony seems to process the sensor data in an inferior way when shooting video. DPReview does studio shots to compare image quality, and if you compare G9 to a7ii, the G9's image quality ends up being better https://i.imgur.com/EiwD2N2.jpg

3 year warranty is available through March. B&H has a link to the PDF on their G9 page (just below the 12 month financing banner) but it's good for all authorized retailers.

Edit: here's the direct link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/Fram...RRANTY.pdf

This is a really good price for a killer video and capable stills camera. Outstanding EVF and touch screen, some of the best IBIS you'll find, 4K 60fps, very user-friendly design. Biggest downside is contrast AF and the high-ISO performance that comes with a smaller sensor. If you care at all about quality video the G9 is an absolute no-brainer unless you KNOW you need what the GH5 has that the G9 doesn't, or you want to spend 3x as much. Great Lumix and Leica lenses are quite accessible and reasonably priced too - i.e. the 42.5mm 1.7.

Weight and price of lens, bc lens is more important than body. Depends on what you need and money you're willing to spend, but body to body, I'd take the Sony over this.

This has been the street price for G9 for the past 6 months.

It would be a good deal if price breaks 900$ barrier. Panasonic/US usually throws in 3 year warranty at no extra cost.

Could you clarify what you mean by "street price"? I searched Slickdeals for "G9" but couldn't find any deal < 1k before, would be interested to know if there's other ways to find out cheap deals for cameras like the G9.

Also available with the Panasonic Leica 12-60mm lens for $1600. The lens is selling for $800 separately, so it's $200 off if bought in a bundle.
