Having 30$ extra, going for 7th gen 2019 model should be wiser.. bigger screen, more ram, better software support, longer run.

Only paid $199 for a 128gb Walmart IPad refurb that was brand new. Got two of them. Why is this such a great deal?

Honestly, I think you are going to see the 10.2" ipad 7th generation on Black Friday for $329. Yes they have the same cpu as 6th gen but for possibly only $30 more, you get an extra half inch and 3GB of RAM instead of 2GB. That extra gig of RAM is probably worth waiting 12 days to see.

Debated that… Unfortunately, I plan to use this for writing in Microsoft Word and the app is only free to edit (you can always view) if your screen is 10.1" or less… Otherwise you need to pay for the MS office 365 subscription to be able to edit documents on your iPad.
From what I've seen, the seventh generation will be 249 for 32 gigs on Black Friday… So with this you're basically just paying 50 bucks more for the 128 gig version. Worth it in my book. Same processor, similar battery life, etc.… Just half an inch difference on the screen and one gig more of RAM, plus the new connect for the Apple keyboard that I'm not gonna use / pay $100 for.

iPad 6th gen 128 gb 299$, iPad 7th gen 128 gb 329$ so it's not 100$ more it's only 30$ more and very much worth it which you should realize in long run.. for Microsoft edit docs whatever you have said, I never heard of such thing that subscription varies by screen size.. this is astonishing..

I was upset to have missed the Best Buy one-day deal on that and I have been looking diligently since, I can't find that price anywhere (nor do I see it in any BF ads), what am I missing?

Because you bought refurb. Curious who was the seller of your refurb? I've been looking at picking up a certified refurb off Walmart site (10.5" Pro) but have some concerns about the sellers and what they actually do for "refurb". A 256 GB Pro with 2yr SquareTrade would ruin around $400 and that seems not bad.
