Guys please buy wool suits. If your buying from these department store please go to a decent tailor and get it fitted. Trust me these $200 wool suits will look like a $1000 suit if it fits like a glove. Be GQ once in your life. YOLO

I assume decent quality for occasional purposes? (Job interview, weddings, and occasional formal occasions?

Definitely appropriate for any of the above.

The problem I have with these suits are the pants are always too tight in proportion to the suit jacket sizs

Excuse my lack of knowledge of buying suits online....

But when I've bought suits in store you can pick the jacket and pants size differently. This doesn't give the option for pants size. Do they just ship you some generic size appropriate for the jacket and expect you to get it tailored?

edit: reading helps
This suit has a 6" drop which is the difference between the size of jacket & pants. For example: a 40R jacket includes a 34W pant

Kinda sucks, I wear a 42 jacket and 34 pants. 32 fits but tighter than I prefer.

You'd get 36 pants, which would be looser.

If it helps, I actually did that w/Van Heusen .. I went up jacket size but slim to get the larger pants, but I think it was a 7" drop.

I saw that Macy's recently had a security breach. Tread lightly.

These are plastic suits.

Far better off waiting for a sale from JAB if you can.

Bought 3 of the slim fit suits for work last year (1 travel suit, 2 "nice" event suits). Now they are all travel suits. I lost 30 pounds so the original travel suit has me swimming, but the slim fit is the way to go unless you like the "classic" look of having bunched, loose pant legs at the ankles.

Best option is to buy a suit that "should" fit, then if/when it doesn't, go to a store and try on the ones that do and do a straight exchange.

Edit: They were Van Heusen suits and you can also exchange sizes in outlet shopping centers (almost always have a Van Heusen shop)

You'll have to get someone to hem the pants up anyways. They come long and unfinished when ordering a suit like this. It is easy for them to take the pants in a little to make the waist smaller (or larger if needed) at the same time.

From experience.... these suits should be bought for young students only. Macy suits arent what they used to be. Bar iii used to be good, but now macy suits are polyester and polyester blend. And the money spent on tailoring you'll do to make a polyester suit look good will come out as a lower priced wool suit.

This is not to say macy suits are bad, but dont delude yourself into thinking its a good buy. You get what you pay for, and for suits you want to get more

Yeah, do not buy these polyester suits.

Macy's occasionally has wool suits also for not too much more than these prices. You would be better off waiting for those sales.
