My 4 girls and I (straight hair) loooove the Wet brush brand.. we've gotten rid of everything else and have about 10 of these in different colors! These are my fave brushes! I have thick wavy hair, and these are the best I've used. Usually, we pick them up at Kohls with coupons.

Amazing brush, my daughter used to scream and cry every time we brushed her hair (curly). Now, while she still complains, it's much better and there are no tears.

I would say the Wet Brush is around 4x-6x better than a standard brush (at least compared to the one we had before). And the first one we bought on Amazon turned out to be counterfeit, used it for a year without knowing and misplaced it, next one was directly from their website and was even better than the Amazon one.

Aside from the occasional one sent with them to school that never finds its way back, they have EXTREMELY curly hair that tends to be Kryptonite to most brushes.
