Looks like a decent deal. Making sure everyone knows this is for a single speaker and not a pair.

OP needs to put that in the title.

I would think that 90+% of the time, speakers are sold per pair. Most would assume a per pair price.

Mkii version is $10 more. I'm not an expert on the differences but it seems worth it for an extra $20.

The 306p is $134.

I usually see towers, centers, monitors, and subs sold individually. Bookshelf, outdoor in pairs.

Probably sold by how many are in the box. Problems arise when companies, like hhgregg, price speakers individually and only sell them in pairs because that's how many are in the box.

Two transducers (woofer and tweeter). Or if you're from Cincinnati, how you like chili.

This is an excellent point (actually, two separate points). Basically shows that this "deal" is not time-sensitive, no need to jump, and worth upgrading for a tiny fraction of the outdated version: https://amzn.to/37in1WM

I'm staying away from these, though, as near-field monitors because they are known to have rather loud residual hiss.

Wise post. Nicely said! I see too many negative, snarky comments that are totally unnecessary and detrimental to the conversation. Yours is stated well. Very helpful!

Ive had the mk1 for years and love love them every time I listen. My right speaker hisses but it's never once bothered me. I'm not sure if other people's are louder.

The only time I can hear it is when I walk right next to the speaker. I sit at the my computer desk they are next to and ive never noticed. My computer fan is much louder and it's on the ground.

There's no way I would go with an even slightly inferior sounding speaker because of the hiss. Just my opinion.

Funny someone posted the exact same pricing from proaudiostar and currently have a thread with -2 score. As I posted there:

I got a pair of the 306 for $150 last year around Black Friday time

Before I get the "JuSt lEt mE hOp In mY tIMe MaChInE" replies, this is just to provide a point of reference for possible forthcoming Black Friday pricing to hold out for.

Also I can confirm the rather loud hissing present in the MKII version that was not present in the 1st gen 305s I had.
