6v are great actually, in some way better than 12v. Because when you then put a 12v battery instead of the 6v it goes faster than a 12v. At leas that's my experience with the 7 various power wheels I have encountered, 5 of them 6v and 2 of them 12v. And the 6v never got damaged after many many hours of complete abuse. I even tried 18v on some, here again the motors did not get damaged.

6v are a waste of money. They won't drive around in the yard or grass the kids will constantly get stuck. We bought one never again after that we went to 12v and now we have 24v sidebyside by huffy and it's amazing

Same experience, cheap 6V are worthy all day long. $25 replacement 12V on Amazon, and you are in business.

DO NOT BUY a 6V unit - I can't stress this enough. 6V are single-wheel drive, always get stuck and have very little torque. As you said, you'll wind up spending all your time repositioning the kid or otherwise getting them unstuck due to the shitty single wheel drive.

Agree 6 volt are a waste of money , will not work on grass . And only suitable on pavement if your kid is under say 3 years old

I've never had luck with 6v in grass or up inclines. Waste of money except on hard flat surfaces.
We connected 18v drill battery to 12v car and it flies. we make kids wear crash helmet when doing 18v. Probably 50% faster.
