Because it wants to cover the entire top screen but the screens are curved at the very edge. They cant make a curved screen protector so they cover the curve with rubbery edge. I had one like this before and it always trapped dust on the edges.

I've gotten these with the black edge, and hate them. The ones that just cover the flat part are better and omit the screen blocking black edge.

I've gone to a film based protector, instead of glass, since the Samsung S7 Edge. None of the glass ones seem to fit well- or have good reviews- on curved screens.

I've been buying Armorsuit screen protectors for all of my phones & devices since the S7. About $7.86 on Amazon from the authorized distributor, TJC International.

+++

This one is for the 11 Pro, the "case friendly" version. Usually direct ship from Amazon with Amazon Prime for Next Day or 2 days:

Armorsuit Case Friendly Screen Protector - for iPhone 11 Pro [amazon.com]

The 11 is not in stock at Amazon right now. Shipping from the distributor instead, it says November 25-29 delivery for me (should be sooner?):

Armorsuit Case Friendly Screen Protector - for iPhone 11 [amazon.com]

The only non-5-star review for these 2 products is from a person who ordered the iPhone 11 screen protector for the iPhone 11 Pro. They complain that the protector is "too long" for the 11 Pro screen. Duh... ConfusedConfused

+++

These use a liquid spray for application.

After cleaning the screen, I spray the adhesive side of the protector, the phone, and my hands with the liquid (with the phone turned off.) That will allow the protector to "float" around on the phone surface so you can align the protector.

Once you have the correct position, use the rubber squeegee to "pin" down one corner - by squeezing out the water. It should adhere and stop moving around. Then you can squeegee all of the water from under the protector and get most of the bubbles out, across the screen.

A few smaller bubbles will work their way out over teh next 1-2 days, or you can "massage" them out once the phone has dried.

They have a lifetime replacement warranty.. It is $1.95 for shipping from their web site if you don't need the whole kit, just the film.

Cheers! Smilie

I think tempered glass protectors are much clearer than those film based! Also feels like original glass screen!

Film based are outdated now!!

All the film does is protect against scratches, not impact, so why bother?

I'm quite happy with the film version. I haven't been happy with any of the glass ones on my curved screen devices.

I've used a lot of Samsung devices that have had more aggressively curved screens than Apple, until recently.

Just another option. Up to each to read the reviews, try, and decide

Haven't broken a screen with an Armorsuit protector on it, ever. S7, Note 8, Note 9, S9, S10. iPhone 6s on

I'll opt out of this now. Y'all can decide what you prefer. SmilieSmilie

Actually they do help against impacts as well (rubbery consistency reduces shock) BUT not as much as glass since they can't transfer shock further and more even across area. Having said that I HATE film texture and feel when sliding across it plus they get yellow and opaque with time and if you take off one after few months it's looks even worse than glass one with dirt on the sides.

Does the black edge cover any screen anyway? Thought there was already a black edge around the 11 anyway.

After getting the EZ install ones for my pro max (also for 11) last week....I wouldn't choose anything else. $10 for the easiest install of my life.

Edit: I think it's the Spigen brand

Edit 2: yep; https://smile.amazon.com/Spigen-T...523&sr=8-1
