Let me start by saying that neither the arlo or ring will ever replace a multicam security system running 24/7. I have all three systems and each with its own usage.

Arlo is great for monitoring areas that don't have a lot of foot traffic. The need to recharge the battery is annoying and the cost of the solar panels for the pro run around 40 to 50 bucks. This version don't not have a light or has the ability to set alert zones.

Ring is optimal if you have an outdoor socket to plug this in to. The alert is pretty sensitive and has the ability to set motion zones. Comes with a light but can not disable it or night vision. So caution when placing this next to a light at night. The wireless version is terrible imo. Motion sensor is not very sensitive and the resolution is subpar given the price. In heavy foot traffic you will get less than 2 weeks of charge. Solar panel runs about 30. Wireless version can not set custom zones. This too can not have its night ir disabled.

Pick the camera for the usage. Not the price. Nothing will beat a 24/7 multi cam poe nvr system with remote access. If you have an outdoor outlet, go ring. If you need wireless, go arlo. If neither works, get a dog or a snoopy neighbor.

Got rid of mine. Arlo has slow motion detection and it always records back of mailman or delivery guy's head as they are walking away.

Ring on the other hand has been great. Got 4 floodlights and doorbell pro.

1. Build a PC [techradar.com]

2. Install Linux [fosslinux.com]

3. Install Zoneminder [readthedocs.io]

4. Install RPi-Cam on Pi Zero W [elinux.org]

I use PiHut ZeroView boards [thepihut.com] to stick cameras inside my windows instead of worrying about waterproofing or finding power outside. And of course any Pi camera can be set up with a PiNoir for low-light video.

Ring never worked for me. Tried the wire version and every time I got an alert it would take about 40 seconds for the video to process before I could check what happen

Any have any recommendations between this Arlo Pro 2 system compared to the Ring Stickup Wireless (NOT wired) Camera system? I currently have the Ring Doorbell but am looking to see which of the two security camera systems provides the best overall experience and cost (i.e. up front cost, any monthly/yearly costs, sensors/detection, etc.).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

For around the same cost you can build a cheap Ryzen system, install Linux and Zoneminder on it, and throw together 4x Pi Zero W's with cameras.

The end result is an identical system, but no monthly cost, no need for a closed-source app, and best of all no Netgear employees saving your "best of" intimate moments for their fellow perverts to enjoy anytime they want.
cool.

I just bought three ring stick-up cams from Costco. Non-wired. They are arriving today. I would be interested in this as well. I am a little concerned about how waterproof the ring ones will be

That sounds way too complicated.
