But riding it does not?

I weigh way more than the bike does and I put that kind of weight on both the fork and the wheels.

Hmmm 🤔

I own the 2 bike one, works surprisingly well and comes with extra hooks for accessories but the 4 bike one never made sense, seems like it takes up so much room

Yea I agree. Way too much space with the 4 bike. I own 2 of the 2 bike ones and mounted them to the wall. Works perfect for mine and the family's bikes

Any advantage to using this instead of hooks directly in the wall (in garage) ?

It's not a good idea to hang bikes by the wheels. Doing so adds too much stress on the rim or the fork.
You can hang by frame. That's what I do...

It'll help lighten your wallet also

or I guess if you don't want hooks on your wall, inside an apartment, etc

I'm in the same boat as you though as I have a garage I can install hooks so don't think I can justify this

Riding evenly distributes the weight along the circumference of the wheel. Hanging the bike by the wheel focuses the pressure in one place, likely resulting in warping. The same holds true to vehicles; your wheels will become slightly warped if you leave your car parked for 6 months.

$40 for a 2 bike rack, considering 2 of my bikes are $2k+ each is not a bad investment. It's piece of mind for me but to each their own. If you're hanging a cheaper bike I'd go with the $1 wall hooks, but worth the small investment for me to hold it by the frame.

Most structured wheels won't be damaged by hanging but some wheels have a lightweight fairing that doesn't normally carry any weight - those could be dented/damaged.

Bigger concern I've heard about is air bubbles forming in hydraulic disc brakes when hung vertically
